The idea that some people’s vote should matter more than others is hardly “fair”. The Senate already serves the purpose of giving all states an equal say in lawmaking. All the EC does is render the votes of around 40% of the people in 80% of the states meaningless, and give all the power to elect a president to the other 8 or 10 states. The winner take all format also helps to ensure a 3rd party never gets a real chance.its fair cause ppl in montana get to have a say and not get completely drowned by overpopulated state like california.
In my view it doesn't solve anything. Dumb people who wanna vote would learn to pass a test, self interested smart people who wanna vote will pass a test. It's not campaign finance reform. It's not funding education. It's not providing public infrastructure to poor areas. It's not rank choice voting. It's not adding more parties to the mix. It's not in any way encouraging the apathetic and disenfranchised to go to the ballot box, giving them a reason to care. It's an austerity measure that adds another layer of needless bureaucracy to the process of voting. It feels good, it'd be nice if we could do something so simple and watch the country change for the better of all citizens but I don't for a moment think this is it.You're telling me after watching the last year in this country, where people burn down their neighbors homes and businesses over a myth of blacks being hunted by police, a year where people wouldn't even put on a mask to protect themselves and others, a year where people are still convinced Trump didn't actually lose the election,
You think we can fix these people?
<{cruzshake}>
Maybe BLM will chill when, ya know, the US demonstrates that black lives actually matter beyond simply paying lip service to basic human decency towards our fellow citizens.
Criminals killing people does not let crooked police off the hook, even if only 10% of cops are crooked that's 10% too many. Would you fly on an airline where 10% of the pilots flew drunk? How fucking naïve can you possibly be? Criminal Black people don't value the lives of other Black people. 6 black CHILDREN have been shot within a few miles of my house in the past few months, two just last week.
And you motherfuckers pretend police are the problem. You're a goddamn embarrassment.
This is very emotional and reactionary. That's fine I guess, it happens. How fucking naïve can you possibly be? Criminal Black people don't value the lives of other Black people. 6 black CHILDREN have been shot within a few miles of my house in the past few months, two just last week.

Who gets to fly the plane they're on also affects them.
Perfect example. There is literally no difference between lawmakers and airline pilots. Literally none.
It would make more sense fur all states to split up into 50 separate countries that way they would have to fail or succeed on their own. But then smaller states wouldn't be able to leech off the economically bigger states.
Please just try to be honest, we all know the reason why conservatives are now staunch defenders of the the EC and it doesn't have a damn thing to do with an overwhelming concern for states like Montana.
Btw you ever stop to think that maybe if the Republican party actually made an attempt to make more people vote for them then you would have to so head over heels in love with a completely ridiculous, outdated EC.
I'm guessing the literacy rate amongst Mormons is higher than it is in the Chicago school district.

Of course there are differences, since no two things in this universe are the same. That is why we resort to comparisons in the first place. What constitutes a valid comparison is the equality of compared things' (perceived) essences. Now you said that people should get a say in governance because it affects them. This implies you consider this particular trait to be essential, because you wouldn't have put it at the forefront otherwise. I merely pointed out that who gets to fly the plane also affects them.
So the comparison itself was more than valid.

That doesn't change the fact that there are some serious issues with the justice system.
Another emotional outburst.
I tell you about six kids getting shot, and you go back to complaining about the justice system.
People like you are the reason these problems will never get solved.
@HereticBD found another one.
Another emotional outburst.
Your point is a non sequitur. I could explain why I guess but at this point I'm not sure you would (or care to) grasp it.
The only mildly funny part is you talking down about the intelligence of others being the problem in this country.
