Answer : Yes, he should be.

Reason : Aside robbie, do you think any of the WW or LW division fighter will takes on the 11 days notice with Conor who was riding on a scary streak including KO Aldo in 13 sec?
No, i guess.

While Dana was pretty pissed off at Jones when he drop the fight with Chael the first time, i guess a reward can encourage more fighters to take the risk in the future.

He should be given a title fight or a contender, but at 155, not 170. I thought it was just horrifically stupid for the meant-to-be LW fight between McGregor and Diaz to be used later as a stepping stone presumably for McGregor to get a shot at WW belt.
I facepalmed harder than any other moment discussing MMA in my life. Money has absolutely overtaken merit.

I don't think he deserves it over the winner of Khabib/Ferguson & personally I don't want to see him fight rda again. I know he was injured but Rda still took advantage of holes in nate's game that are always there. I think a rematch would look pretty much the same. I know he doesn't deserve a WW title shot but nate vs Robbie makes me salivate.

Nate deserves a contender fight at the very least. It can be questionable whether it guarantees a title shot though considering the shark tank that is LW roster and Conor fight being at 170.

I'd love that fight with Robbie just because I think it's a fantastic match up. I think Nate's chin would get put to the test against a legit WW in Lawler, though. I can see Robbie landing some head kicks...

I'm pretty sure most welterweights and lightweights would take that fight, weren't Cowboy and Diaz the only non-featherweights offered it?

I don't think Nate give a f *(% about a belt.
That being said the new King should ask for and get what ever the new King wants.
And if you don't like that, idgaf

Nate is a dead end street so far as title challenges go. Both 155 and 170 are shark tanks at the top.

The man he just beat was basically considered the second coming of Christ. He had such an incredible aura of invincibility, he was supposed to take out RDA and maybe Lawler and was changing the face of the UFC. Now that Nate beat him.....Oh it was size. He absolutely deserves a title shot IMO

If Nate gets Lawler than UFC is heading to be a freakshow
Just give him Alvarez

The logical scenario is Nate/Alvarez winner against Kabib/Ferguson vs RDA winner. Imagine if Nate gets the belt right as Conor gets past Aldo and Edgar.
There is also the possibility of another headlining superfight for Nate if GSP doesn't get an immediate title shot.

One more win and sure, why not

As a Diaz bros fan I want to say yes but logic says he would get man handled @ 170. 155 contender fight though all the way.

TL;DR incoming

The welterweight belt is one of the most prestigious and storied belts in MMA. I am all down for short term opportunities, but they need to be at least somewhat justifiable, and especially justifiable in regards to a title fight.

The fact that Nate was willing to fight Conor on short notice is not enough reason to let him jump to the top of the WW division and fight for a title. It would be FUN, I would love to see the fight between Diaz and Lawler. Would love to see Nate win the WW belt and even overshadow his brother in some way, for once.

But his willingness to take a fight on short notice doesn't mean he can skip to the top of a division he has not fought in for years, especially when we all know that Nate and Conor are both basically LW's, Nate didn't beat Condit or Lombard here.

I think it would be more appropriate to give him RDA, if anyone. At least that's the division he fought at, at least Conor was meant to fight RDA and then lost. Plenty of dudes at LW who deserve a chance but if you are going to have Nate skip anyone for a title shot, it would be at LW, imo.

He definitely deserves a contender fight. I personally wouldn't give him an immediate title shot but I understand why people would. I still think RDA smokes him. Which I find funny because RDA is shorter and smaller (length wise) than Conor and he had no problem with RDA.

This is the 2016 UFC... you don't have to earn title shots anymore, you just need to talk shit and back it up.

Nate brought it... so why not? If it was good enough for Conor, who tapped faster than a 135lb girl I don't see why not at all. Assuming this is about the 155lb title of course.

UFC 209, Stockton CA.
Nate vs RDA
Nick vs Robbie

Make it happen dana!

Would rather see the Rory/Thompson winner get a shot tbh, but Diaz/Lawler would be fun.

It would be insane to have him jump Khabib/ Ferguson or red King/ wonderboy. UFC made such a mess. A ww fight shouldn't grant you a LW shot. A WW fight against an LW/FW shouldn't grant you a WW fight, esp against someone who has no credentials in WW or LW.

And is Nate really that populair all of the sudden? As someone said, have him fight Eddy or Pettis.

No he shouldn't

Give him the winner out of Pettis/Barboza or Alveraz.

Or even Diaz vs Cerrone 2
