Should Max stay at 145 with Ilia moving up?

The more your career goes on, the more you should avoid cutting weight for lower weight classes imo. Max has been in some wars and I'd hate to see him drain himself further cutting for 145.

Charles has put on too many great fights (and fought through adversary) to be ever called a quitter again. I remember there was already a lot of hype before he fought Max which meant he already had a reputation for an exciting fighter with great finishing ability. He definitely had some strange fights early on but he has been a beast for the last couple of years.

Volk has a hard fight in front of him with Lopes.

Volk is 1-3 Max 3-1

Max should go for a last title run if Lopes wins.
Or a BMF fight if Volk wins. Get another easy and quick win on top and then challenge for the title.

Max is far past his prime physically. His fight IQ is higher than it's ever been, but the damage is adding up. He's been fighting in some capacity since he was 16. He should retire soon.

I actually thought Dustin vs Gaethje 3 should have been BOTH fighter's retirement fight but it seems like Justin wants to make 1 last run at a title after he completely butchers Hooker.

I think Max matches up pretty well with Diego. It's a very winnable fight for him. Max has lots of options though due to being a BMF and fan favorite.

True, but I think his time as a reigning champ is over in either weight. No way he can get through Islam then beat Topuria at LW. Who knows? He can add some power if he fills in there and look different. You're going to have to have top tier grappling in either weightclass now with who is at the top.

Still Max has fun fights at LW, all the old guard likes to stand and bang so he could headline a new BMF like you said. LW has tons of names for Max.
