Should mail service be free?

We know how much privatized health care reduces the price of medicine I’m sure it would do wonders for the mail service. I hope people in rural places don’t mind paying out the ass to get the same crap as everyone else.

Privatised healthcare doesn't reduce the cost of medicine at all, it simply shifts it to the government to take from everyone via higher taxes.

Today I learned aussies don’t understand sarcasm

Given the quality of your posts that I have observed over the years, I think you'd be better served learning the basics of economics before anything else... or hell, I'd honestly be shocked if you can even tie your own shoes unassisted at this point... so maybe start with that

I hurt someone’s feelings sorry pal

Screech? You think I need to be offended or upset with someone to give them crap?
You strike me as the type who is easily offended, so yeah.
Can’t wait for the “im so not offended”, here’s a diatribe on why

Its called Amazon Prime. And its the best thing since sliced bread.

It's free for members of Congress.

Maybe it should be free for ordinary people?

Should it be free ? No !

Losing your cool over work conditions and situations, then violently retaliating against bosses and/or co-workers, was known to all as Going Postal.

Gubmint takeover would, IMHO, make it LESS Efficient, more stressful, and re-start the animosity from the hopelessness that occurred working there in the 1980's.
I think that that phrase was created all from one guy shooting up a post office. I’m probably wrong and it’s a constant phenomenon.

Pretty much sums it up. We’ve kind of privatized mail anyways, I don’t see anything wrong with the current set up, so I don’t see any point in changing how it is.

I suspect anyone wanting to privatize the USPS is either stuck in the 1970s or just wants to skim some cream off the top in privatizing it.

Whenever I order from Amazon Prime, which is a lot, the mail that is sent using the USPS is way more reliable than UPS or Fed-Ex. I've had UPS lose three packages. Yet the USPS lost over $1 billion just in the first quarter of 2023. It isn't sustainable without proper funding.

Eh, I wonder if we can really get a reliable way of measuring how reliable each service is, because I always hear the exact same thing but from different perspectives. Someone complaining that UPS lost all their packages, but USPS is great and vice versa.

I’ve personally had maybe one issue with USPS not losing my item but I guess fucking up the logistics and making it late.

Alternatives/options are the key, but it'd be a bad thing for an institution such as the USPS to shut down.

I got tired of playing garbage man and throwing away all of the junk I was getting so I stopped going to my mailbox. I had anything I actually needed sent to my office address and I didn't get regular mail for over two years. Eventually I had to stop that, but it was pretty cool.
