Hey guys. As I have said before I wanted to thank everyone individually but I am overwhelmed by so many wonderful people. I've not been on the forum for close to 10 days now. The funeral is tomorrow. A lot of family is coming back into town.

I've been pretty OK for the most part but it is really sinking in now. I made a slideshow to play at the funeral and man it's the saddest thing ever making a slideshow, with music, for your father who is gone. Seeing pics of him as a baby, a young boy, a teen, a young man coming of age, a new young father with his young wife and babies, and then pics of him into middle age and getting older. It really hits you. You see your life, so to speak, when you see pics like this.

I'd like to thank everyone once again for your support and love. This thread has been great. It's amazing how my brothers and sisters here have come together for my dad, me, and my family.

Oh, I showed the family this thread! They loved it and were laughing pretty hard. They told me to thank everyone so that includes you! I had it on my tablet and was scrolling through the pics and they really loved all of them. I had to scroll real fast past some of them cause... well you know Sherdog Shoopers . Those were probably @BigTruck's or @Buff's haha.

One more thing, I have not been able to answer all of my PM's but I will get back to everyone this weekend or so.

Keep your head up. Remember the good times. My pops passed back in 2018 and it was a real hard dark time for me. Never dealt with loss that large and close to me. I think about him all the time and some of the strangest things make me remember certain times. Each one seems more and more vivid. I miss the man every day

Hey guys. As I have said before I wanted to thank everyone individually but I am overwhelmed by so many wonderful people. I've not been on the forum for close to 10 days now. The funeral is tomorrow. A lot of family is coming back into town.

I've been pretty OK for the most part but it is really sinking in now. I made a slideshow to play at the funeral and man it's the saddest thing ever making a slideshow, with music, for your father who is gone. Seeing pics of him as a baby, a young boy, a teen, a young man coming of age, a new young father with his young wife and babies, and then pics of him into middle age and getting older. It really hits you. You see your life, so to speak, when you see pics like this.

I'd like to thank everyone once again for your support and love. This thread has been great. It's amazing how my brothers and sisters here have come together for my dad, me, and my family.

Oh, I showed the family this thread! They loved it and were laughing pretty hard. They told me to thank everyone so that includes you! I had it on my tablet and was scrolling through the pics and they really loved all of them. I had to scroll real fast past some of them cause... well you know Sherdog Shoopers . Those were probably @BigTruck's or @Buff's haha.

One more thing, I have not been able to answer all of my PM's but I will get back to everyone this weekend or so.

...and be ready for random things that will trigger you. It has been 13 years since I lost my old man and to this day when I walk into his old workshop behind the house, even a random tool that holds a memory of us doing something together can stop me in the spot. It does get better over time and eventually you're just proud of the old man and tell everyone anecdotes about him

A little ray of light is that, in situations like this one, from experience, not all the members of the family break down at the same time. Some will snap back and feel like living again weeks later, while the one that seemed the most stoic of the bunch suddenly is hit by the tsunami of what really happened. All in all, we can, somehow, carry each other through the grief.

Eventually, all in the family learn to deal acceptably with the new reality, and sorrows are followed by dim rays of light. Maybe a newborn entering the scene (a nephew or niece is MAJOR news, wouldn't even put it as a "dim ray of light"; it's rather a flood!) puts everything in a new perspective; maybe something else, more modest. These rays are followed by more happiness, heck, even the busyness of life and so on. Years later, life is felt almost as it was "back then", and we remember our dear departed ones with a smile.
