Shingitai Jujitsu vs BJJ

sorry brother ill do that from now on would hate to lose my post numbers though they are small

I personaly know John Saylor, Shingitai is a legitimate system... As far as what system is better between Shingitai and BJJ that is a personal prefrence.Shingitai teaches more Judo throws than BJJ, but then again that would mean that BJJ focuses more time on the ground. John Saylor has trained some great M.M.A fighters, but then again what would M.M.A even be without the Gracies.....If you have the option of training in either just do it.... if both are an option then go to two or three classes of each, you would know what better suits your taste... John Saylor has some fantastic instructional dvds at John Saylor - Shingitai Jujitsu Association - Ground fighting, Martial Arts and Jujitsu Exercise Training Videos and Strength Building Equipment If you want more information on Shingiati I would be more than happy to share it with you......

I don't think the TS is around here anymore. But as to the orginal question, it falls to what is available and the way you feel about the classes you attend. I would always recomend that people take a look at every possible option before deciding this is the one.

Since Welcome Mat is the home of Shingitai JuJitsu, my feelings on it are evident in my sig. Not saying its better or worse than anything else but I think it worth the look for anyone with access.

I Have Been Training In Shingitai For About Seven Weeks Now. The Amount Of Knowledge Is Priceless... Great System For Self Defense, Mma , Or Judo

You gained priceless knowledge in seven weeks?

hmmm, let me think some mcdojo sounding art that i've never heard of vs. a well established proven art, that is exploding in popularity, purely down to its effectiveness...not much of a choice really.

i'm not saying this other jj is a mcdojo art or anything, but i always go with proven stuff and bj is proven whereas this other shingitai thing isn't.

This thread is mostly just perfweapon33 repeatedly bumping Shingitai Jujitsu.

After learning priceless knowledge in the first seven weeks, I wonder how much he's learned now that he has been training for twelve?

Agree. I would love an update. This has been an interesting thread.

I suppose it depends which one will bring you closer to your goals and which one you enjoy more in the long run.

I think this is just cheap propaganda to put this shingiti thing in the map (what better for your internet rankings then a mention in sherdog's forums)?

If this is legit, go with BJJ.. probably harder to get good at, but better in the long run. It is the first time I hear about shangiti and there is probably a reason for that.. probably an ok self defence system, but probably not the best combat sport you will come across

I have been in traditional martial arts for over 15 years ( yes I know that is still a beginner ) I saw a need for throwing and grappling to become a complete self defense fighter.Shingitai is just what I was searching for... I would never disrespect BJJ I just want people to understand and know there are options if a BJJ school is not available ..... Shingitai Jujitsu has been around for over 20 years just not to many people are aware of it.......... The Gracies are just better promoters of their system...

I'm thinking a lot of BJJ blue belts would probably be able to strangle you.

lol after you've used your style to defeat guys twice your weight and strength, then come back and say bjj's popularity is due to 'promotion'. it's effective thats why people train it.
