Jones is an asshole but that has more to do with him being the most dangerous man in the world from such a young age. He came in and made jokes out of my era of MMA elites. Made Shogun tap to strikes, dropped Machida like a sack of potatoes. Mopped the floor with everyone else. Didn't even train for the Gus fight, and still won.
The job was too easy for him obviously. He got distracted, got into bad habits. But he's a young man. He will learn.
Make no mistake about it, the world has never seen another martial artist like Jon Jones. The man was just about to take MMA seriously, then he got into trouble with the law. He's had a good amount of time to explore the downside of his bad decisions. He was so close to breaking GSP's record, Anderson's record. He said that's what he always aimed for. No man was going to stop him, but himself. He lost his belt to his arrogance. He lost to himself.
Life is a learning experience, Jones will learn. Would also help if he someone forced him to bring out the best version of himself. Cormier is not that man. Rumble isn't either.
I'm certain we will see that change in his life both in and out of the cage when Jones moves to Heavyweight.
