IMO this is more about the anime portion for Sony. I don't think Sony is dumb enough to believe fromsoft is comparable to Playstation. It will be a nice get for them though.

Hidetaka in new interview – mostly nothingburger but in-house plans and goings-on always cool to hear:

Elden Ring’s new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC received the Grand Award at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia held on December 3. The base game wasn’t forgotten either, as it was chosen by users for a PlayStation Generations Award (PlayStation Blog).

At the awards ceremony, Elden Ring director and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki responded to questions from the press about the studio’s future (as reported by IGN Japan).

When asked about the Elden Ring IP, Miyazaki commented “We’re not really considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2.” At the same time, the creator also emphasized that he’s not denying the possibility of the Elden Ring IP being expanded upon “in some form in the future.”

Miyazaki wasn’t able to be specific about FromSoftware’s upcoming games, but mentioned that the studio is working on several projects. The works-in-progress are diverse in terms of genre, and some of them are directed by Miyazaki himself, while others are handled by other members of the team.

They went out of their way to buy the IP from Bandai so they have to have more plans for ER eventually.

There’s been a lot of “dancing” on Ubisoft’s proverbial grave, but I think the prospect of them going out of business, or undergoing a restructuring of the magnitude where they’ll effectively only be Ubisoft in name only to be a shame. I haven’t played an Ubisoft game in like 12 years iirc, with the last one being Assassin’s Creed 3 on my 360, but they’ve made really good games over the years.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins from 2017 was super good and brings the franchise full-circle to a close. Cool protag in Bayek – husband, father, warrior. Definitely can recommend and probably cheap nowadays.

The follow-up Odyssey was also fun but had naught to do with the franchise despite being under the AC banner.

Ubi fat cats had the audacity to launch deluxe editions for both at some 120€ if memory serves.

Continuing its reputation as collab king in competitive gaming, next week expect a Christmas crossover of Fortnite x Cyberpunk, to include Johnny Silverhand vanity: (Hypex is legitimate and the Fortnite store to joy of players is bursting at its seams right now)
