Leak: Call of Duty franchise roadmap below. And Sledgehammer are downsizing offices as studio adopts long-term WFH strategy:
  • COD 2024: New Treyarch Black Ops
  • COD 2025: A Black Ops 2 sequel
  • COD 2026: New Infinity Ward game
  • COD 2027: New Sledgehammer Games title

Unanimously crapped on and rightly tisked Day Before developers are at it again with new project underway, supposedly, and rubbing salt in the wound had the recent audacity to blame Day Before failure on – wait for it, negative gaming blogs. SMH. Not clueless but cunning, IMO...shysters.

Amidst the closure of their disastrous MMO's servers, The Day Before's developers are reportedly gearing up for a new game. Seems like the Gotovtsev brothers aren't ready to hang up their developer hats just yet!

I mean I expected layoffs after the acquisition but this is way more than I expected.

Senior staff/executives at Blizzard needed to go for some time. Theyve been making bad decisions for close to a decade. Can only blame so much on Kotick when these employees continually capitulated.

Apparently they let go of everyone working on the survival game. This is way more than just senior staff/executives.

You're a prick man. Laughing at people losing their jobs because you dislike the company.

Grow the fuck up

We're talking about a company that;
  • Were fined ~70 million relating to employee misconduct that involved executive members revenge porn that resulted in one instance of employee suicide.
  • Department of Justice fining them for illegally imposing a salary cap.
  • Nearly destroying the entire esports space with their failed Overwatch League.
  • Former CEO threatening to actually kill his assistant.
  • Former CEO throwing a board member under the bus with a letter he wrote while putting her name on it.
  • Co-CEO of Blizzard quitting because the company refused to pay her equally.
  • High employee turnover from hiring them at below industry base salary standards.
  • Company that has a patent for 'skill based matchmaking' thats sole intent is to get players to spend money on in-game micro-transactions.
  • Executive actions causing them to lose their Chinese publisher.
  • Corporate messaging that constantly virtue signals yet operates exactly the opposite.
  • Yearly layoffs/downsizing of ~800 employees every January year on year since the mid-2010's.
  • Violating EU labor laws.

Can go deeper with their game design choices, current IP's health, failed acquisitions and destroying future joint ventures with other Fortune 500 companies. A culling of staff needs to happen in Activision/Blizzard. I'd expect this is only the first round of layoffs.

Wonder where the proponents of this are now.

What's hilarious is over at Restera if you even tried to mention layoffs they would attack you like you were a POS for even suggesting it would happen.

Rumor is COD will go down the same path as 343 and have a ton of contractors coming in and out making the games.

Remember five years ago everyone was excited about Disney buying Fox solely because people wanted to see the X-Men in the MCU? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
It's funny how people are so conditioned that Thing A and Thing B can only be combined if companies are merged, and it's like...or you can just work together.

WB Games and Avalanche's Hogwarts Legacy has now sold an amazing 24M units, it's reported. 2M have been sold in 2024 alone, showing the title is holding popularity. Incredible.

Quick read here from GamingBolt if interested.

Streamer Amouranth again banned from Twitch, making this the 8th time apparently. Reason or ban conditions unknown at time of writing.

Another Embracer cancellation and layoffs

Man, fuck Embracer! Bunch of ignorant cocksuckers that came in and thought they could throw their weight around and buy up all these studios when they had no idea what they were doing. At this point I’d much rather they try to divest and offload their studios to new homes than to slowly just shut them all down until there’s nothing left. Idiots.
