I watched this trailer again today and I feel you guys should too.

O, nice. Feeling it. Is this up for wishlisting already re PS Store? I'll possibly forget it otherwise; don't think I'm familiar with developer.

e/ Yes! It's up. Also, just saw the video's very last second expressly says at screen-bottom to wishlist game now – derp.

Same studio that did the Ori games. I had totally forgotten about it until I saw it on YT yesterday. I think it looks fantastic.

(Take Two)Rockstar have filed a lawsuit against Remedy over Remedy's R Logo

Probably gonna be weird for them to be working together on the Max Payne 1+2 remakes.....

Interesting. And weird. Rockstar litigiously going full Monster Energy mode or does this complaint have legs? Seems not worth the resources nor does a likeness strike me outside the letter R. Isn't this the R* logo?

What a joke. Absolutely no one will be confused once GTA VI drops. Can't hate Rockstar, it's Take Two doing it. But yea, it's got to be awkward. It's like being embarrassed by a crazy family member. Remedy is such a cool studio too.

Another awesome headline for today: "Ubisoft Exec Says Gamers Need to Get 'Comfortable' Not Owning Their Games for Subscriptions to Take Off"

I am a proponent of digital games. However, I understand their current shortcomings and the reasons why some people are not fond of them. Trust is the most significant issue. It’s not hard to comprehend why a majority of gamers are skeptical about ‘digital-only’ when a company director releases a statement like this.

If the trend continues towards a subscription-based model, I personally don’t foresee physical games faring any better. They would merely serve as your ticket to board the train. We can only hope that some legislators are gamers themselves and can see the bigger picture. Consumer protection for digital assets should be pushed.

Epic Games have lost their 3-1/2 year antitrust lawsuit against Apple. Supreme Court refused to hear their motion leaving the lower court decisions to stand:

Good. I don’t like either company but I don’t understand how a company can build the hardware and software and then someone else can come in and reap all the profits without you getting a dime. If apple was the only sensible choice for a smartphone I’d understand but there are many other options.

There is speculation that Piranha Bytes might be shutting down. It looks like Elex 3 has been canceled and their website is partially down.

Their owner, Embracer Group, lost a two billion dollar funding deal with a Saudi state run company last year and has been closing a bunch of their studios.

I never played Elex 2 but loved the first one so this would be a shame. They made pretty unique RPG's.

Looks like its supposedly been on the cards since at least November and the Creative Director already left and some people have already been notified about being let go

Didn't realize the creative director had left already. Elex 2 was disappointing from most opinions I've read but the series had an interesting story arc and they still could have salvaged it with a good third game. Bummer.

The Gothic remake is being done by a different studio but you have to wonder if that's dead now too. Never played the original so I was looking forward to it.

Larian boss reiterates that no titles of the studio will make an appearance on subscription services, adding what many industry heavyweights have from Sony to Strauss Zelnick, that sub svs will damage the industry for both developers and players.

“Whatever the future of games looks like, content will always be king,” said Vincke. “But it’s going to be a lot harder to get good content if subscription becomes the dominant model and a select group gets to decide what goes to market and what not. Direct from developer to players is the way.”

Vincke was speaking in response to recent comments from Ubisoft’s subscription director, who said he sees “tremendous opportunity for growth” in the business model if consumers can get used to not owning games like they have with music, movies and TV content.

“Getting a board to ok a project fueled by idealism is almost impossible and idealism needs room to exist, even if it can lead to disaster,” Vincke continued. “Subscription models will always en

Some guy on social quipped in kind that Ubi needs to get comfortable not getting his money, lol. Thought that pretty funny. Zero surprise that Ubi turns torchbearer on this kind of business model in gaming; has for years felt like a gaming publisher-developer juggernaut with no-one who actually games working there. Their Montpellier subsidiary behind Prince of Persia's new Lost Crown is looking like an exception ATM with the forthcoming MV entry.

This has been bubbling up more and more but is it sensible to interpret this as M/s wanting out of the console battle (and some even extending this to mean the writing on the wall for the Xbox line itself)? Phil conceded defeat in-interview last year to Sony and Nintendo; changing the strategy up seems smart to me of M/s if you know you can't 'out-console' the other two in the space. We now have M/s Gaming CEO, M/s CFO, and CEO all changing tune and in a united front putting the same message out there:

Yea saw this yesterday. Crazy times we live in. It's kind of wild seeing it take place especially if you followed the FTC trial and some of the emails leaks that went out.

In the link you can see Phil is very confident that about the Series X/S vs PS5 and even comments on how the board thinks he's to confident. Then in another email you can see Nadella asking Phil about the disparity in sales and wanting to make sure they are still in the game so to speak.

Now here we are with leaks coming from pretty much all the top Xbox leakers about Xbox games coming to PS. Interesting times ahead.

One thing I didn't know and just learned recently is that apparently it was Playstation that ended up saving Fallout 76.

I also recently read that at one point MS wanted to bring Halo to PS but Sony refused. At first I thought that was kind of dumb of them to do but after seeing this report about Fallout 76 I kind of get it. They would be essentially allowing MS to make profit off their userbase which they will in turn use that money to try and take over Sony's market share.
