Just in: Warner Bros. and its properties going forward will be all-in on GaaS:

WB will focus on more live service games going forward:

"Our focus is on transforming our biggest franchises from largely console and PC based with three-four year release schedules to include more always on gameplay through live services, multiplatform and free-to-play extensions with the goal to have more players spending more time on more platforms. Ultimately we want to drive engagement and monetization of longer cycles and at higher levels. We have put specific capabilities. We are currently under scale and see significant opportunity to generate greater post purchase revenue".

After the recent 10€ fatality shenanigan for MK1, sounds like an MTX maelstrom of a portfolio in the works.

Based on the very popular TV series, new game Walking Dead: Destinies (launched about 1w ago) is getting absolutely reamed for being Golem- and Skull Island-level trash – unironically the latter also being from GameMill Entertainment:

Interesting interview with Xbox CFO. Talks about GP and all that good stuff. Lots of speculation that MS will be exiting the hardware market after this interview. I could see Sony agreeing to allow GP on their console if MS exits the hardware space. They already allow ubisoft and EA services so I don't see why not MS if they are just 3rd party.

I'm curious what kind of non-GAAP accounting they had to use to say Game Pass is a high-margin business. It would be a ballsy move to just try and become a publisher/content provider.

Yea I don't think it will happen this gen or next. After that I could see it happening. There Xbox S\X sales are already below Xbox one at this point and Xbox one was already considered a huge failure for them. Will see so many changes have happened for Xbox lately who knows where they will be in another 5-10 years from now.

I don't think they exit that market without a guarantee (contract) from Sony and Nintendo to allow GP though.

Hopefully it isn’t a shitty port because I would love to see how this game would look on the my oled Switch or Pocket Air.
