What type of bait would you use to fish for sharks? Not the large kind but the small miniature sharks you find near the dock.

Cutbait or whatever small baitfish are schooling up locally hooked behind the dorsal fin.

Same thing as you would for any other ocean fish. People catch dogfish all the time while trying to catch salmon or cod or snapper or whatever. You don't need anything special to seek them out. Hope you're planning on eating them.

I always prefer live bait so when fishing the docks I always bring a small net to catch bait fish

Chunks of fish on a circle hook. Chumming with ground up fish can help bring them in, depending on what your going for. Don't kill them, unless your going to eat them(and Most sharks taste terrible) they grow slow, and don't reproduced fast.

I also wouldn't recommend catch and release sport fishing for dogfish. They're more likely than just about anything to swallow the hook and be mortally wounded, not to mention more dangerous to unhook than just about anything else short of the open seas.

Like I said up top, I hope he plans to eat what he catches.

It depends where in the world you're fishing, in the uk use crab for smoothound (gummy sharks) or mackerel, garfish,launce or whiting for tope.anywhere else I'd use whatever smaller fish your catching in the area, as a dead bait om the bottom or live baited under a float. Give them a slash down the flank to get their blood flowing.

Anybody that fishes with anything other than their bare hands is a loser and beloved in animal cruelty.

Only fair way to fish or hunt is au natural versus au natural.

Also have to eat what you kill or you’re scum. Or at least give it to the homeless.
