Shane Carwin lol

He was screwed by the ref. You don't say "fight back", then not stop it when the fighter doesn't fight back. Saying fight back means either fight back or I'm going to stop it. That's why Carwin gassed. If the ref thought Brock covering up and being hit was defending himself; he should have shut up and said nothing

No Carwin gassed because he punched himself out. Brock weathered the storm and came back for the second round and won like the champ he was, simple as that.

His old, slow ass needs to just stay retired. He'd get a heart attack Midway into the 1st round.

Brock came back like a champion, showed a ton of heart. I won't dispute that. But the ref screwed Carwin by saying at least twice "fight back" that's why Carwin punched himself out. "fight back" means I'm about to stop the fight. If the ref wasn't going to stop the fight he should have kept his mouth shut.

Carwin has said the same basic thing before, the reason he kept throwing was because the ref made him think he was close to stopping it.

Three times the ref said he was going to stop it ir fight back then just kept it going.

Meanwhile today was the first day i wore my Carwin shirt. I shall keep wearing it and if Carwin comes back you all owe me a beer.

carwin probably still puts Jones to sleep.
I think he has the power to potentially put anyone to sleep. I'd pick Jones though, I mean the jds fight was 5 years ago in June and he picked Carwin apart with just boxing basically. I could see Jon doing the same but just mixing kicks and elbows in.

and that's the problem. If the ref thought covering up was enough he should have said nothing. It's the only fight I've ever seen a ref say "fight back" the fighter does nothing but get hit and it wasn't stopped. I heard it twice for sure; I thought I heard it a third time.

I agree.

JDS is one of the best HW strikers in MMA history. Jones cuts weight for a reason. I assure you it's not for fun.

Good old Shane, we have him to thank for showing us Brock Lesnar wasn't a legit fighter, definitely the beginning of the end for the gun shy WWE star.

Couldn't finish and got choked out.

Yeh, he showed us alright.

Shane co-worked as an engineer while fighting. He did it for the sport and his stint was amazing with just KO stoppages..

His groundgame was his achilles heel, even with his purple belt.. If you tap to the likes of Brock Lesnar you should switch BJJ gym...

Brock was a pretty solid grappler, with his size I'm sure he would be able to control guys and power people into giving up submissions..and with that guys retarded power I couldn't imagine how scary it would be once he got a lock of something. Carwin was fucking spent by that stage, he had nothing.

Never really cared for Carwin, severely overrated..I don't think I've ever called a fighter overrated but his best moment is finishing Mir, a guy with average durability..plus the dude seemed a bit slimy personality wise and people always would over exaggerate how big the guy was.

Carwin never faced any solid strikers and when he did he got busted up, average strikers were big power like Gonzaga or Neil Wain landed very good shots that phased Carwin. He looked great against Brock but so did a fair few others. I think if he was around today he would have a very mixed record.

He is one of the best but Carwin was made to look silly in that fight and it was 5years ago. I wouldn't take Jon over most current HW but Carwin is not a current HW. If this fight happened tomorrow, ID pick Jon is what I'm saying. The Carwin that destroyed Mir would kill Jones but when he came back for the jds fight it was clear he wasn't that guy anymore, too many injuries.

Brock was the first guy to survive the 1st round vs Carwin and finished him in the next. if anythng this fight shows that he had a lot more heart than he is given credit for and proved he is legit

I would watch the shit outta this

Lol @ the people still trying to make excuses for Carwin with his loss against Lesnar. So, Carwin would have won until he lost? That was a solid win for Lesnar and it shouldn't be dismissed.

Nothing is ever definite in an MMA fight until the fight is over, and this fight proved it. Carwin could have saved his gas tank and picked his shots better if he wanted the win.

I'd like to see 2010 Carwin (pre-back injury) vs. 2010 Overeem, battle of horsepower.

that's a fair assessment, I respect that opinion. Jones might win a decision.

But in my opinion Jones just doesn't hit hard enough to threaten Carwin and probably can't take Carwin down. Carwin is still just too powerful. he walks through Jones shots and hurts him too bad with each punch.
