You are joking about boxing loading up cards aren't you? The average boxing fan has not got a clue who anyone on the card is apart from the 2 fighters in the main event. They are selling it off of 1 fight, it is nothing like UFC 100

Cards like this are often entertaining and fun, but for 2-3 fucking weeks all these "this card sucks" threads just jizz all over the front forums page.

The fuck else you doing? Watch or don't watch, I could care less, but tonight proves (AGAIN, for like GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES).......

The blood alone was worth it lol.

But it wasn't really free tho was it? You have to pay for your subscription to ESPN+ or thee network you watch on, and many do that in hopes the UFC will put on a quality of product that we are used to. After all, they are paying out like at a 90-10% split, so they have money to burn. The advertisers also pay to advertise their products to a certain demographic of people, and if we do not watch, they will stop paying.

Only if people stopped watching and voted with their viewership, UFC would get the message and sign fighters like Minakov, Rumble, Davis, McKee, Pitbull, MVP, Lima, mighty Mouse, sign guys like Gable Stevenson, make fights like Jones vs Ngannou, and instead of Dern vs Rodriguez co-mained by Randy Brown vs Jared Gooden we could have Minakov vs Rumble. If we keep lapping up inferior product, we will keep on getting regional circuit MMA.

I can see it either way. UFC is doing a tremendous amount of volume with cards every weekend, of course the quality will dip when you have that many cards. Can't have stars every weekend with 52 cards a year.

Personally I would like them to brand it accordingly like the Strikeforce "contender series" which was at least honest about being a lesser product.

But lesser known often means more HUNGRY... and subsequently more violent, ideally.

I remember a card, I think it was the first "Fight for the troops" it was about 2008 or 2009. Sherdogg was crying rivers about it (card quality was generally pretty stacked as they did 1-2 cards a month back then).

Then that card was violent and action packed. Some poor dude got his arm mangled (al-hassan I think was his name) and there were multiple crazy finishes and several worthy "FOTN" wars.

It is one thing to whine about the perceived quality of a PPV card where someone is (theoretically) shelling out a lot of money to watch it...a free card, that was on early, and doesn't conflict with a big HW boxing title fight on later?

Only casuals, or 'hardcore' fans who should know better, are complaining (and again are left to look silly after a pretty good card overall).

My friends shit on me all the time for not being big into football, but being from MN, all I have to do is ask : Do you really just want to be let down again this year? Oh they love that... just don't get overheard in a bar making fun of the Vikings :)

They scowl and of course know I say that all in fun, but if you know anything about the Vikings it's that they either CHOKE, get fucked by the refs, or are just never any good. Oh look.... we're 1-3 so far this year....

I'll sit and watch a game and shoot the shit and drink beer on a lazy Sunday, there's nothing better to do most times. Let the kids play, let the adults make good food and tip a few, get some laughs.... but to me that sport is background noise.

MMA is great because you could literally be up 40-32 going into the last round and lose with 2 seconds left lol. It's just more my style.

I watch chess breakdowns sometimes in rapid or blitz games I find more interesting than some major sports as well.... games of pool.... snooker... depends on what the brain wants so to each their own.
 
It was an early card for a west coaster, and since it lacked much interest, I opted to enjoy the great fall weather here and spend the entire day outdoors with my son wearing his ass out.


Just another rare card I miss and wont even bother pulling up any of the nights I missed just fine skimming over the play-by-plays and catching a gif here and there on teh threads

Although I agree. Magic the gathering is a card game. DnD is a board game
 
Was there many finishes? I had family stuff to attend to and plan on watching it tomorrow..
 
While it is true that oftentimes 'lesser' cards turn out to be funner, I feel saturation leads to watering down my interest in the sport overall. There's just too many fights and fighters for me to remember who these guys are and have a sense of their trajectories, narratives.

It's just overwhelming.

I like knowing the fighters, even if they are not top ranked, but the saturation makes it impossible to follow, unless you have an inordinate amount of time to waste watching MMA.
 
Poor fights cards like the one today are the reason we have fight cards like UFC 267, 268, & 269.

I'm fine with it.
