Seriously, who's going to end up as the 155 champion?

Pretty good chance Conor wins the belt then retires again without defending.
UFC will want to give Conor a title shot, and he has a good chance to win it. But history has shown that once he gets his screentime and his money he vanishes

Once Conor is gone again I see Gaethje or Oliviera getting the belt. But LW is a shark tank the outlook could be very different by March

Conor ain’t gonna fight anyone other than Khabib regardless if he wins or loses vs Dustin.

You’re being naive thinking he wants to keep competing for the belt. He just needs an occasional money fight

Hard to say really. I remember when gsp vacated, lot of people thought rory would pick up the torch and take it from there at some point. Never ended up happening. Lot of talented guys in that top 5-7

Oliveira is on a different level than the entire LW division for BJJ now that Khabib has retired. I don't think he can hang with these guys in a pure striking battle, but neither could Werdum at HW. Oliveira's advantage is he creates huge paranoia, like Khabib, when trading because of their fear of the TD.
His fight against David Teymur and Kevin Lee are a good example.

because Conor gassed out fighting 2 weight classes above his regular one at the time? it's clear that Nate is a worst fighter than Conor.

How the hell is it clear that he's a WORST (SMH) fighter? they're 1-1 and Diaz finished his ass in the first fight, and went a close decision in the 2nd.. That's far from clear bud..

I wouldn't call the second fight a close decision and he was losing the first one until Conor gased out fighting two weight divisions above what he was used to fighting at the time. Also, their records against other fighters back up my claim. Do you think Nate wins a 3rd fight?

Nate was fighting above his weighclass too and Conor is a 155er who was killing himself to fight at 145. Don't spice it up with the weigh class bullshit. Nate and Conor were basically the same size. The 2nd fight was a majority decision which is rare and means it was close as fuck and Nate even almost finished him in the 3rd round. We get it Conor is your favorite fighter and he's damn good but pull your head out of the ground and see the truth.

So let’s see out of the whole 155 division, we can separate 5 fighters who are the likeliest out of all to end up with the title in 2021:

Conor
Dustin
Du Bronx
Gaethje

and my personal dark horse Dan Hooker.

All these guys have a good shot but it’s highly likely the winner of Conor - Poirier will be upgraded to a champion or fight for the title perhaps against Du Bronx or Gaethje.

I personally see Hooker beating the shit out of Chandler and being put back in the title picture again as he was before the Poirier fight.

Werdum could...Werdum was both a better striker and had better BJJ than Oliveira

Charles loses to Gaethje standing and never manages to take him down, even though he is the worst match up for Conor he never fights him. That's how I think it will end.
Gaejthe beats 2017 Charl-O .....2021 Charl-O finishes Justin. I see gaejthe having nothing for him outside catching him ( which could happen).
A year ago , Gaejthe would open up a 2-1 favorite. Today-bronx gaejthe opens a pk'em and just my opinion....easy money on Charl O

Khabib is one of my favourite fighters ever. However his retirement is good news. This is because lightweights have nothing on him and he's fought everyone i wanted to see him fight. I don't care about khabib tony anymore. Firstly, in my humnle opinion, i don't see conor becoming champ. He's untested and the others are equally as good or better than him. Also the others probably hit just as hard as him, so i don't think he stands out as much. A few bullet points.
  • Charles and gaethje are the only ones who haven't been matched up. You guys think they're going to be matched up? If so who wins? Justin has bad bjj, but can oliveira take and hold him down? Can he out strike him?
  • Can rda make one last run and win the belt?
  • Can any of these guys be a dominant champ or is the belt going to be passed around?
Its a Hot potato division. Gaethje, chucky, dustin all have a shot. Conor will probably win the belt first, not defend it then it'll go to the other guys.

I never mentioned size. They are obviously about the same size. I mentioned being used to fight at a lighter weight and gassing because of that.

it's not an excuse, Nate was fighting at WW before and Conor was fighting at FW when they first met. I am not particularly a Conor fan. I just like to watch good strikers. They are 1-1 and Conor has a better record, that's why I think he is a better fighter. What is wrong with that?
No Nate wasn't fighting at WW before him and Conor met the first time. Before the first Conor fight Nate had 8 straight fights at LW, and his stint at WW before that wasn't good. He got molested by Rory and beat by stun gun. And also Conor was in a fight camp for RDA at LW, and RDA got hurt and Nate took that fight on a couple weeks notice (cardio shouldn't have been an excuse for Conor).
Just because he has a better record doesn't mean he got the better of the matchup. I love watching bad ass strikers too, but don't twist facts and make excuses for these guys, just breakdown the actual fight.

i think charles will go right for the takedown. wont stand much with mcgregor
if he does, it'll be in the later rounds.
Conor , obviously, still has stand up advantage vs Charlo and I agree- getting him to ground is his first path route agsinst Conor but Oliveria no longer anemic on feet ..... man- even reminds me of what cordeiro/kings did with Fabricio.

Cognitive dissonance is quite a thing, Conor murks everyone not named khabib

Conor fans have sweet memories, i get that. However i dont think he still has the hunger he once had.
Oliveira is my favorite to win this belt.

Conor today puts Diaz away.

People know his weaknesses. Cardio amd wrestling. His tdd is not bulletproof either. It's just that eddie didn't have the common sense to try. His striking is great, it's not so far above everyone else though. Gaethje's performance against tony is not far off. He hits hard, but he's never seperated anyone from consciousness im the ufc apart from aldo. He's neither Francis with the power, not izzy with the skills.

He also only has one way to win. Knockout. He's not beating anyone by decision or sub. Conor is far more vulnerable than you guys even realize. It's not 2016 anymore. There's a good reason he never wanted to defend his belt. He has a chance but he's not steamrolling anyone.

Poirier, Gaethje or Oliveira, in that order.
I don´t see McGregor taking the 155 belt anymore, unless Dana makes a fight like McGregor-Lee for the title.
RDA may also be left at the platform, as his train already left the station.

Dude. Let's not play this game. Conor was in fight shape, preparing to fight dos anjos. Nate was in cabo and given less than two weeks to fight nate. Nobody forced conor to pick nate. Nobody forced him to move up in weight it was on him. Lastly, it's hilarious that you said he was two weight classes up. Conor is a natural 55er and complained about 45. In his cage warriors days he had more fights at lightweight. Nate is a lightweight. You have to lightweights who refused to cut weight pretty much. Conor had the better striking, nate better grappling and cardio. Nate still somehow outstruck conor and made him a panic wrestler, something he brags about forcing people to do. So... Your excuses mean nothing. He lost. I'll even go as far as saying this. EVERY elite fighter nate has ever fought, beat him (bendo, jorge, rda etc.). Nate FINISHED conor in two rounds. Losing to nate, who's been stagnant for as long as I've known about him, says more about your skillset /physical attributes than it does about nate. Elite fighters don't lose to Nate.

Lee, in the first round can take, hold him down and choke him out. Whether that happens is up to his execution. But that is NOT a favourable matchup. Cowboy was.
