Serena Williams cries "discrimination" over drug testing

i think because of social media, race relations will only get worse going forward. one of the main reasons is that if anything bad happens to a person of color.....it is because of racism. bad shit can happen to white people and its because shit happens. an unfortunate thing happens to a Hispanic person, tough luck. a bad thing happens to a black guy.....RACISM!!!! there doesnt need to be an investigation, you dont need to know the rest of the story, you dont need to know the people involved. if it happened to a black person, you can bet it was racism

Hey @Madmick, I just saw this and remembered this thread of yours.

Williams was cited by official Carlos Ramos for three code violations during her 6-2, 6-4 loss to the 20-year-old Osaka on Saturday: for getting coaching signals; for breaking her racket, which cost her a point; and for calling the chair umpire a thief, which cost her a game.

But despite the match penalties, she renewed her attack at a media conference later.

“I’ve seen other men call other umpires several things,” she said. “I’m here fighting for women’s rights and for women’s equality and for all kinds of stuff. For me to say ‘thief,’ and for him to take a game, it made me feel like it was a sexist remark. He’s never taken a game from a man because they said ‘thief’.

“For me, it blows my mind,” Williams said. “But I’m going to continue to fight for women.”

First discrimination, now sexism.

Well, I guess her little tantrum on the court yesterday, eliminates any benefit of the doubt that she wasn't playing the race card here. Now she's screaming sexism.

Ugh.

I think Serena's opponent was also female. But the referee was not sexist to her. Serena believes she is a perpetual victim. Everyone else but her has privilege.

Serena smashes her rackets, verbally berates the referee and then calls him a thief. But somehow she was the victim of sexism yesterday.

Until Serena becomes "unwoke" she will not progress past the maturity of a 13 year old.

She's also aging, and the competition is catching up to her. She's probably having a hard time coming to terms with that as well, and looking for excuses. Maybe looking to the future too, to become some activist type.

Hispanics are people of color.
And it's Latinos by the way.

Oh no doubt she is a social justice activist. She thinks she is a victim because she is black and because she's a female. She even said yesterday that she was verbally berating the ref and calling him names because she was standing up for women's rights.

It was just low class of Serena to do all that.

And yes, you are right. She was getting beat, she knew it and she could not mentally or emotionally handle that.

I think Serena's childish temper tantrum had more to do with her losing than anything. Naomi Osaka was outright embarrassing her at times. Selena dominated in tennis for years and now she is slowing down and has not come to term with that fact. Ronda Rousey has a similar personality where she can be the nicest person in the world if things are going her way, but completely loses her mind and goes into hysteria mode if there is a problem.

Lol You started off this thread talking about "the black community", as if we are some hive mind

And you completely overblew, or misunderstood my point.
The real problem is is that too many people argue in black and white.(no pun inteneded) I didn't racial profile anyone.
The fact is, is that racism does still exist. We still see evidence of it, and there are people that act as if it is a complete thing of the past, or if it's being made up. The people that say racism is "higher than it's ever been" are just as wrong. The answer is in the middle.

in a sport like tennis, the idea that a minority could face some racial discrimination shouldnt be an insane notion. That isn't an all or nothing statement. That doesn't mean everyone involved in Wimbeldon are racists. That just means that all things considered, it shouldn't be hard to see the possibility of discrimination, on some level, by some person, in a sport like tennis

People like you and Serena cry wolf far too often to be taken seriously though.

Please never compare that media creation Ronda Rousey to Serena. Serena been the best in a legit established sport against world class competition for two decades, Ronda was beating up 30 something accountants in a brand new sport with zero talent. One will be remembered as a GOAT female athlete and the other a flash in the pan.

Serena is the perfect example of what feminism is all about. An entitled, spoiled woman throwing a tantrum, becoming hysterical, verbally attacking a male, blaming him for all of her problems and then going into victim mode.

Ronda went to the Pan Ams, World Championships, and Olympics in Judo. That’s a legit sport. Was she as dominant as Serena? No, but she’s certainly a legit athlete.

I agree

Williams is getting older and knows her time is up. She just got destroyed by that Japanese girl and is just trying to sit controversy
