Crime Senator Menendez D-NJ indicted for taking bribes

Blatant corruption isn't a flaw of democrat politics. They see it as a feature.
Actually that is the only thing the left and right can agree on, is taking massive amount of money which buys those donors., politicians votes.
There is a reason campaign reform bills have no prayer of passing because both sides are on the take. It is no longer We the People, but We the Donors.

My man was taking Hollywood super-villian bribes, lol. Gold bars? Probably got some uncut diamonds and unsigned bearer bonds too. Keeping that shit in a storage locker by the airport.

Lets hope that trial goes quickly and smoothly.

It seems likely that person involved at the DoJ wasn't aware of any bribes or they would be part of the indictment as well.

well the DOJ does deny any wrong doing. However, menendez is very close with the someone from the AG office, with the US attorney, Sellinger, being a fund raiser for Menendez’s campaign. He refused himself from the case, but I am sure still chummy with others in the AG office.

dude was facing a dozen counts of bank fraud for millions and only got parole. Something doesn’t seem right.

even if they were unaware of the bribing going on, seems they did a favor for menendez and his buddy, on the surface anyways.

Is the book thing a real corrupt grift? Pretty slick, never thought of that. Makes sense and easily deniable.
Yeah, you get a PAC or your political party to buy all your books and then you can hand them out at any of your speaking engagements for free. Totally legal.
You can also double dip, by having dinners or rallies, and offer a free autographed copy, while charging attendees a $1000 plate for dry chicken and you also get a signed book.
It is the easiest way to make a 1/4 million or more right into your pocket. Hell you don't even have to write it. Get some ghost writer to write it, add your name to it and then profit. Kick some writer like 25k and you keep the rest for doing nothing but reciting your life story to them.

An example of donations gone wrong is here in Florida. The legislators have to approve power companies rate hikes. Well Florida approved 3 and I did a little digging. Duke Energy donated 1.44 million in 2022 to politicians, that does not include the dark money. My power bill has fucking skyrocketed. Why does a public utility need to donate so much money. Also it is hard to regulate someone when that are constantly shoving money in your pockets.

He should resign to ensure Murphy appoints another Democrat in his place to keep the Senate as it is.

Yeah I knew PACs bought the books and it was a way to convert campaign dollars to their pockets. The idea of foreign governments buying them or agents is hilarious. It’s all through an intermediary too, the publisher, and they just rip royalties and pretend they don’t know whose buying it. It’s remarkable. Should be illegal.

It’s good to be an monopoly (the power co).

Well, no. When there is evidence of someone taking bribes (that is, when it really happens) as with Menendez, they are fucked.

Well, yeah. The entire system is based off of politicians taking "legal" bribes, aka lobbying, from corporations.

It's why their policies benefit corporations and not the people.

Former mayor of Baltimore "wrote" a book and hundreds of thousands were bought by a hospital system. That hospital system then got a sweet contract.

Interesting that it is children’s books. Justice Sotomayor, whom I assume is an amazing scribe and story creator has made millions off of children’s books. She also refuses to recuse herself from cases involving the publishers of those books. DOJ should look into those book sales

you don't do your own research?

He is a genuine, dyed-in-the-wool, piece of shit. The fact that a 400k bribe isn't nearly his worst crime is profoundly telling. As a NJ resident I can't believe no one will primary this POS. He's going to cost the democrats a senate seat and they're all going to have the audacity to act surprised.

You want to fix our political system, they should hang this dude in front of the Capitol. Send those corrupt fucks a message.
There is so many loopholes in getting paid. He should have wrote a book like the rest of those crooks. Have Egypt buy a shit load of books which is perfectly legal.
Too bad he is not a Supreme Court Justice because then he would have been untouchable.
Also this is his 2nd time, Lol. Why do citizens keep re-electing shit heads?
we would have nonstop hangings, I'd say this is the way of life for 80% of politicians big and small.

the small guys never get talked about.

I'm glad they got this crook. Hit him with the book. Sounds like a complete scammer.

However, when did The Justice Department, federal agents, and federal investigations become credible again???????
There are countless threads of certain clowns in this thread saying the feds can't be trusted. However, now they trust them no questions asked.

Oh you only believe federal charges & investigations if it's against a Democrat. Could you try to be a bit less transparent.

You won't find one lefty or liberal on this site denying the charges or making up conspiracies. They all will condemn him and support seeking justice. That's the difference.

Nearly all of congress is involved in bribery and insider trading. 400k is just a drop in the bucket compared to how much money these people are accepting through bribes and stealing from Americans through insider trading.

This is all just a dog and pony show to make it look like the DOJ is doing their jobs and being fair.
