Better than Jon Jones?
It was more about Jones being at the end of his run than Reyes being so good IMO.

Reyes did well to pull a lot of those shots.
I've trained with a couple of guys who are rather "Strickland" (lol, it's a verb now).
Sadly, they won't develop themselves unless they have a very particular trainer.
It's difficult for people to want to put a beating on somebody who just keeps Stricklanding all of the time.
Eventually, people don't want to spar with a stricklander.
But he has really no athleticsm. He pretty average fighter.
Sean is crazy but We love that about him, Jack the Joker is gonna get beat this weekend.
Fighting isn’t like other sports. Explosive athleticism isn’t the most important thing. Not even close.
It matters but technical skill and heart matter moreBut it is. Athleticsm with skills will usually trump average fighters with skills and no athleticsm.

He is, you just can't see it because it's not as obvious. Very good timing on his straight punches, good movement, good TDD, good head movement etc... Strickland is playing you guys.Which he isn't technical.

You can't go 24-3 without good fundamentals and technical skills.
Do you train? We all get dropped in training bro, the winners under the bright lights surround themselves with savage training partners who push them in training. 24-3 and on a good win streak in the UFC is far above average. I'm average, I fight on a regional scene. Strickland is certainly not average even for the UFC.Sure you can. Look at khabib first 15-20 fights . Beat just bums. I do give you that khabib was wayyyu more technical than this guy .
Strickland gets dropped in training multiple times. Dude chin not as durable anymore. He's average fighter.

Khabib has great technical wrestling and pressure. Very good fighter too. Stickland is not Khabib and Khabib would beat him in that matchup, but Khabib isn't in the picture anymore. Not to mention you could compare any fighter to Khabib and say that fighter isn't technical "because Khabib is truly technical"
I'm a Blackbelt in bjj and own mma gym. I do not let our fighters spar with small gloves and especially Without head gear when it comes to sparring standing.
Guys like Strickland would have to follow same safety guidelines. We try to protect the fighters from aging quickly in the gym by controlling egos.
If you are getting dropped or even ko in training, you have $hit coaches . Does it happen by accident from time to time ? Sure. But it should be a rare occasion.
What gym? If you don't mind my asking...
I'm in AZ. That's all I can say because I don't want to get trolls from here on my social media pages.
Ahhh...
I really do believe that if you're going to go online and pull the "I own a gym" card then you need to be prepared to back it up and be honest/legitimate about your credentials.
I don't think you need to worry about trolls.
I'm not saying I don't believe you, bro. At all. I'm just saying that anyone can pull off the old, "I run a gym, trust me" card.
You can DM me. I don't have social media so won't be trolling.
They're not grappling, fool.He stands too planted and square. Easy takedown and not good against leaping punches.
Love his personality, though.
