I think Jiri and Rakic at least are just better no shame in losing to Jiri. I think he just thought he was hot shit after everyone told him he beat Jones and he took Jan lightly.

He’s got a great fuckin record too at 24-3. He’s got a straightforward style, you know what you’re gonna be up against but it’s a pain in the ass to deal with. He’s a tough fight for anyone and you’re gonna have to work if you wanna beat him.

He was looking like the best 205er in the world for a bit. These losses can have a way of piling up on a guy and ruining their confidence like Weidman

Last I heard he was taking some time off to recover from the back to back KO losses. Good for him, more fighters should do that.

His style was fun and I hope his confidence isn't zapped from 3 straight Ls (technically 2 since we all know he beat Jones)

I think he made the mistake of resting on his laurels after the Jones fight and paid for it against Jan. Jiri was a good competitive fight where he came up short.

Think they should give him a step down in competition so he can regain his confidence. Thiago Santos or Johnny Walker would be good next opponents for him.

thiago santos worries me. I think johnny walker would be good.
 
Strickland is gonna get destroyed by the next quality striker he fights that actuslly tough.

I honestly think Weidman just got unlucky after the Belfort fight. His competition also dramatically improved that was the golden era of MW. I'm not sure it was a mentality thing he was never coming out of that stretch without losses but it could have went better for him. What confuses me about people still having AS is the GOAT is the reality that AS is unlikely to get close to a win against that group Weidman struggled with. Not that Weidmans the GOAT I find it more of a vacant honor just people don't appreciate how great that era at MW was even now that the division is a dumpster fire. I think Weidman talent wise is probably third best MW of the era behind Rockhold and Romero and should have beaten Mousasi and Jacare but I'm not sure that's proof of something mentally going wrong.

With Reyes I def feel you for the Jan fight think he wins 9/10 times and was looking past him. But it's hard to tell if that's permanent or he learned his lesson after a bad night. Remember LHW has dramatically improved the last few years there's quite a few guys now who I don't think he should be expected to beat like Jiri, Rakic and Ankalaev(Hill's got some potential IMO as well). In 2018-2020 it was different he was probably the best LHW in the division besides Jones possibly Santos. This is no longer the case. He will never have as easy a route to the title again.
 
Few seem to love fighting as much as Strickland, he really seems to enjoy it in a way that is arguably sadistic/perverse.

Love him or hate him you’ve gotta watch him, he’s definitely become a fighter to pay attention to.
