Who deserved to win?

This. And it's really clear in the reply that his eye was fine, he eats an unintentional headbutt, then immediately his eye starts pouring blood.
I would suggest he eats a headbutt, they clinch, he eats a glancing elbow upon release, and then his eye starts pouring blood.

Is the jury still out on whether it was the headbutt or thr elbow? I think so. Not that it matters - it’s all just trivialities at this point (but that’s what we’re here for, heh).

the problem here with everyone claiming the headbutt destroyed any advantage Strickland had was the headbutt happened in the FOURTH ROUND. if Strickland was really kicking DDP's ass, why did the headbutt matter? according to Strickland's disgruntled fans DDP did nothing but shadowbox the entire fight. so how did 1 illegal headbutt give DDP the win if Strickland was winning the entire fight?
Was it the fourth? It must have been very early on in the 4th. I was thinking it was the third. Anyone know exactly when this happened?

Still, no denying those cuts always have a massive impact on any fight.

that's the corner they've painted themselves in. now, they have to either admit that DDP was making the fight close making the headbutt matter and thus killing all their "Strickland was robbed" arguments OR they have to admit that the headbutt meant nothing because Strickland was handily winning so all of their bitching about it now is a moot point. the only other argument is that there is some huge conspiracy to fuck Strickland over, even though the President of the evil organization has said he thought Strickland won.

tl/dr guys who vicariously live their lives through sports stars get angry when said sports star doesn't win everything.
Ya I’m not speaking to any of those broader subjects (especially fucking mma fan conspiracies). I’m specifically talking about a possible headbutt, a possible elbow on the break, and a definite cut.

But since we’re getting into technicalities, ya, since it was the 4th round, if it were seen and considered an accidental foul, according to Ontario rules:

(h) if an injury sustained during competition as a result of an accidental foul is severe enough for the referee to stop the bout immediately, the bout shall result in a technical decision awarded to the contestant who is ahead on the score cards at the time the bout is stopped only when the bout is stopped after 2 rounds of a 3-round bout, or 3 rounds of a 5-round bout have been completed

And DDP was ahead 29-28 on the scorecards after round 3 😳

And while some fans may say “it was clearly intentional” after watching it in slo-mo a few times, let’s be real - there is no way a ref would call this anything but an accidental foul.

Thanks for making me look all that up 😉🤣 that was fun.

TLDR: Even if the fight were stopped for the headbutt, Sean still loses.

I'd rather get cut on the eyebrow, the fuckin softest part of your face that you can cut with a gust of wind, and taken down a few times, than eat a 100 jabs to the face

your offense should've consisted more than 95% of jabs, and you should've stood your ground and fought in the pocket in some of those exchanges that DDP was trying to force. no matter who you think won, you have to admit it's not a good look to be retreating and defending the majority of the fight while your only offense is a jab.

Exactly.

Ideally, a jab is supposed to be a rangefinder, and to establish distance ... so that your real / follow-up shots shots are on the money.

A jab is not supposed to be the only fucking thing you do all night.

<{clintugh}>

Sean won and got robbed, again.

Disheartening.

And life changing because champions get PPV points.

A travesty.

Meh. I thought it was anyone's fight. Too close. Strickland needed to up his activity in round 2-4. His jab was landing consistently but c'mon, it's mainly all he was using in those rounds. Use it to set something up. Shouldnt have abandoned his teep either.

I wanted Strickland to win, but he needs to quit bitching about the decision. It was a close fight and DDP got his hand raised. He needs to move on and start focusing on what's next for him.

Also, Sean lost that fight on his own. He should have been more aggressive and mixed it up more and used his jab to lead into more combos, rather than just throwing jab after jab.

It was the 4th. I just got done rewatching the fight. Cruz praised DDP for landing an elbow opening up the cut when it was clearly a headbutt.

pfff fuck outta I already destroyed your logic, so much so you had to reach with this weakass non logical response. Plus that bs you pulled there about not wanting to argue is the typical shit a leftist would do to escape a logical discussion when confronted with facts, so you disqualified yourself as a woke bot for that alone. bye fool.
Its like you are reading off a fucking script lol

By doing something/anything BEFORE the headbutt. Not sure why that has to be explained.
there was still half a fight left if not mistaken. Let's see you fight like that

I thought the title meant nothing to him....lmao he's as fake as Colby
Maybe changed his mind after reverting to the non-champ contract. Baiting DDP into a hematch > some random rankings bout.

Ah, just watched it again. This was the same engagement that, during the PPV, the replay made it seem like it was the elbow on disengage that caused the cut.

I thought this was a different part of the fight. Like maybe 20 seconds before the elbow.

Yes, it started bleeding immediately. But now I’m not convinced whether it was the headbutt or the elbow that cut him - they were so close to each other.

I bet by end of day there will be a pic between the headbutt and the elbow that will settle this. I’ll shut up until then.
Probably this punch

Which happened 5 seconds before the takedown attempt and headbutt

But the clash of heads should have caused a pause in action, especially if it seemed to have an effect on things. It's just not certain it caused the cut

That video is 40 seconds into the 4th.
