News Sean O'Malley chooses Ricky Simon; *UPDATE - Sean will fight Kris Mountinho instead

Simon was ranked for a while and is a very solid wrestler. Sugars height might give him trouble but still.

So now Simon can't make weight after the public call-out???

I'll believe it when it's official. He could just be saying this to appear like he wants a real fight, when in actuality he's having the UFC get him a regional can to crush.

You can already see half the replies are "props to him for taking a harder fight".. what fight? it's as official as me saying i'm fighting Ngannou next week.

BUT o'malley said on his podcast just yesterday he would fight at 145 for the 135ers that couldnt make weight on short notice. I doubt Simon knows he said this and you'll notice Suga isnt telling him either....

Ricky Simon is a serious fighter. No cake walk for O'Malley. He would have to earn his stripes here. 60 to 40 for Simon.

I am the furthest thing from an O’Malley fan but I have to say respect to him for picking a tougher opponent. I fully expected the UFC to go with some random bantamweight barely anyone has heard of.

Will probably still say Sean is a can crusher if he wins though

Possible update

Is that some sort of excuse built in for either party for fight not being made? i mean, they all said they wanted it but weight will be a problem for 135ers not already in camp, he will endup fighting a can that kills himself to make weight and probably misses, or some can-ish 125er.

Fair point but then again, why make such a confident call out?
Free pr or angling for a catchweight? Or maybe he thought he could make the cut but his team is worried. Those would be my guesses

Or wanting more pay for doing the ufc a favor

How is a guy with 0 good wins on a ppv to begin with?

Outside of the main and co-main that is a weak ass card to begin with.

O’Malley is good tho. He is the kind of fighter that no matter how many times he gets exposed he will still have the retarded fans behind him for some reason

Seems to be the easiest of his choice. Classic.

Simon looked strong as fuck in his last fight. Wrestling looked world class. It was also a boring fight. Not only is it a harder fight than the original, but it’s the highest risk low reward in terms of skill/name ratio lmao

O'malley train about to crash for good.

Yes, but Simon also got chinned by Uriah fucking Faber with a full camp lol. You don't think Sean can check him? And he's also a BIG bantamweight in terms of being muscular. Will a quick weight cut affect him at all? Sean is good at picking favorable matchups, this one is a wrestler, which will make him look good in the end. But don't see Simon making it far. He gets KO'd by the 2nd round if he doesn't gas. If he gasses after some wrestling exchanges in the first he will be KO'd in the first instead.
