News Sean O'Malley chooses Ricky Simon; *UPDATE - Sean will fight Kris Mountinho instead

Simon was able to make 140 on the 1.5 weeks notice. Sean claimed on his podcast he'd fight at 145, but turned down 140. Guy is a duck.

The UFC wants his replacement at 135. Not much Sean can do about that. He himself is a 135er anyways.

So is Ricky, and the fact Ricky could make 140 on 10 days notice or whatever it was shows he isn't a big 135'r. Either the UFC didn't want him to fight Ricky because they think he would lose (Ricky should have been the heavy favourite), or Sean refused it.

As an aside, Sean has turned down fighting Ricky before, with full camp. That fight has been attempted to be made behind the scenes several times.

To be fair plenty of other guys have been allowed to take short notice catch weight bouts when this type of situation has arisen. So one of them is protecting something. Whether it's the UFC doing it, or Omalley himself is up for debate.
