As schools continue distance learning curriculum, there will be more stories like these.

My kids are in different school levels and both have participated in diversity/inclusion classes. For both, they are reoccurring classes on Wednesdays. Both of my kids have asked me questions about the curriculum. For instance, my daughter wanted to know if gay marriage is legal in Japan (she is reading My Hero Academia right now). Both my kids have spent their lives overseas in rather large cities. Our current town in the US is more homogeneous than they are used to.

The cynic in me wonders if this new curriculum was created due to low school attendance rates across the region due to schools being shut down. School districts understand that their students will be a year behind in their math/language arts scores. So, rather than follow core standards (and increase the gap between kids attending class and not attending class) they are creating diversity/inclusion classes as a filler until schools are back in session pre-COVID19.
