I am certainly no Zionism Expert, but I think it’s important to distinguish between Zionism, and
Christian Zionism specifically. Evangelicals are Zionists because things like an independent Jewish state, or rebuilding of the Temple, are seen as necessary developments for he return of Jesus (whom the Jews reject as Messiah). This may cause Evangelicals and Jewish people (or Israelis) to join together at times with the same common aim, but I don’t find it necessarily pro-Jew.
As far as the “why” of these book banning: I don’t believe they ever said why those textbooks were banned, just that they violated state standards for being “woke.”
The graphic adaptation of the Diary of Anne Frank —link to the entire book
here if anyone is interested—was singled out by the Moms of
Facism Liberty for two specific scenes. One in which Anne suggest to her female friend that they show each other their breasts, although there’s no nudity in the scene:

And another in which Anne walks by statues of nude women, although there’s again no actual genitalia shown or anything. Maybe it‘s what Anne says in that scene (
“I must admit, every time I see a female nude, I go into ecstasy…if only I had a girlfriend!”) that they find so troubling?
Banning Maus is particularly bizarre. This is a Pulitzer Prize winning book, that is supposedly banned due to a scene of nudity. The nudity is hardly explicit, and occurs in a scene when the author’s father discovers his wife (the author’s mother) dead in a bathtub by suicide. The scene is drawn so that the father entering the room is the focal point, not the mother in the bathtub. It’s also worth noting that Maus isn’t meant for small children, it’s for middle school age and higher.
I don’t actually view politics as a straight line, I’m not sure why you inferred that I do.
The problem the Republican Party has right now, is that your extremist elements aren’t fringe anymore. They’re taking over the party. I actually see some similarities to what happened to the Whig Party in the years just before the Civil War.
You elected a guy who is facing 91 felonies, some of which are for a coordinated effort to disenfranchise thousands of voters and steal an election—and he’s running again on a platform of openly declared fascism,
and is leading the polls. Only 1 of the other 4 candidates even dares criticize Trump, and it’s the guy in last place <45> DeSantis and Haley are too chickenshit to do it, and Vivek spit-shines Trump’s nutsack at every opportunity.
And it’s not just about Trump. Some very dangerous things are happening in the GOP: demonizing the free press, rampant gerrymandering to hold power, stacking courts throughout the country with extremist judges, banning books left and right, shifting rights held by the people to become powers held by the state, pandering to religious zealots and white nationalists…. There are good conservative people in this country, and they would do well to take their party back ASAP, before these wackjobs overtake it completely.
I’m not sure what kind of “extreme leftism” you think I support that is akin to that.
