The scam isn't as sophisticated as you think. When a website password file is cracked bottom feeders like this will send the email to every address on the list to see who's dumb enough to pay.

All the video stuff and address book stuff is bullshit.

I made a thread a few years back after getting scammed on a dating site, and agreeing to skype chat. They got the video of me, and actually showed it to me. The fact they didn't show it to you, means they have nothing. In the end, I realized they were trying to blackmail using my non updated account on my facebook, so I laughed it off and told them to get bent, because I no longer had that job, and my friends and family already know I'm a horn dog. Nothing came of it.

i wasnt worried about them having any videos or anything like that. my only thing was that they knew one of my passwords. and no, i never made an account at any porn site.
 
I’ve read about this before, some “woman” sent me a DM on Twitter and I did a reverse image search of her profile picture and it was of a soft core porn actress who has been used a lot for scams.

After looking up the actress’s name for.... research purposes, I found a forum where a bunch of people said this “woman” ie scammer dude convinced them to exchange dirty pictures and then used those pics for blackmail.

Did this email show up in your spam folder?

I was once talking to this girl online. I, being a young dumbass, added her on FB. She said she wanted to Skype. We start Skyping and I'm enjoying myself, then the call abruptly ends. She tells me she has video and will send to all my FB friends unless I buy a 50 pound (I'm not even from the UK) amazon card. I told her to send me a copy, then I blocked and reported her on Skype and FB. Nothing ever happened.
 
It's just a general scam, not targeted to you. Just ignore it, or if the email is hosted to a big provider then report it to them.

First part shows the video you were viewing (you have a good taste hehe), and second part displays the recording of your web camera, and it is you. (i am pretty sure I would notice my webcam coming on)

You have got two different alternatives. Shall we explore the solutions in details:

1st alternative is to dismiss this message. in this instance, i am going to send out your actual video recording to every single one of your contacts and just imagine concerning the disgrace that you receive. Moreover if you are in an intimate relationship, precisely how it will affect?

Number two alternative will be to compensate me $978. We will refer to it as a donation. Then, i will immediately erase your video. You will keep going on everyday life like this never occurred and you will never hear back again from me.

You don't give them enough information for that site to 'get' you. Just your email, that's it. Then it searches in some records of services you were a member of that were hacked, to see if additional information about you might have been stolen from that service.
