Dad duty dude. Nothing special here. Glad you're doing better
Daddy duty sounds like.... not fun? But thanks man. Been keeping myself occupied at work a lot, taking all the hours I can. Trying to rebuild in my 30s is no fun, but I am getting this shit done.

Watched 1 round of this "Main event" and my god, that was pathetic.

No doubt. Can you imagine the fire fighters on 9/11 going up the stairs thinking they were going to put that out? Do you think they had a good grasp of what they were going to confront?
I think they knew it was going to be extremely dangerous, but in their minds, they were going to put those fires out.

Ya - I saw the documentary by the French film makers who were with them that day. They thought it was going to be difficult but doable. The thing that bothers me is that they miscalculated, terribly. they weren't even close to prepared for what they faced. The whole thing was bananas. Last week i was in Chicago and met up with the two guys i was with in DC on 9/11.

Actually it's cool. I like watching my kid. There's a lot worse things I could be doing. Good to hear you're getting over the divorce. Keep working and kocking ass dude. Will be a distant memory shortly

He's right. When it is soaking wet it is twice as heavy. Then add whatever equipment you are carrying or hose you are pulling, on top of an airpack.

Then the stairs, the fucking stairs
Had to climb 5 stories with a fire extinguisher, then pulling the hose, among some other various shit. Throwing hoses, rolling them up etc.

It was in the 40s outside and I was dripping with sweat lol.

can jam

^^Melody Jennifer Lopez brutally ripped for "On the Floor"

I wouldnt say I am getting over it, I am plowing through it. She is making it difficult everywhere she can emotionally and financially without being the raging bitch she could be. It's not fun. But I am working my way through it and making it work. Living with friends now that keep me on the honest, I'm actually teaching their kids how to shoot as a distraction from everything since I am the first person in the house to move in with a high powered rifle.

BUt its been good overall. I'm not 100 percent sober, but I have toned it down. Been seeing a nice gal that isn't a train wreck, been getting my house prepped for sale, paying off debts, kicking ass and taking names cleaning out my friends that arent good influences. Connected with old friends that are more my style to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Shit, Going all in on the drinking probably saved my life. Not gonna lie, it destroyed what I thought was my life, but waking up from it all and seeing where I was? I had spent years thinking my drinking freinds were all I had. And now I see where that led me, and where I could have been this entire time. Shit is eye opening, and something to be learned from.

Remind yourself of this everyday. It's like chopping wood -- one swing of the ax doesn't get it done. It takes a lot of swings of the ax to bring down the tree.

Well, to be fair, there was no way to be prepared for something like that. Also, according to the engineers, those buildings would not collapse. When those buildings were built, those types of planes with that much fuel did not exist.

I've seen lots of films about it all abd read a lot. That film you are talking about is still the best I've seen.

Those are things that people just aren't conditioned to do. The more you do them the easier it gets, but it still sucks.

I don't know about that.

The buildings were built in 1970 and '71. There were 747s flying around for 5 yrs flying in and out of Newark and JFK with more fuel than the 757/767 had that day. Plus when they were building the WTCs they knew that a 707 had plowed into the Empire state building in the 50s. So it was definitely on their minds.

I'll just say this, i was in DC that day and watching the events on a TV at a hotel in a conference area with about 30 people. The guy next to me had worked as a welder on skyscraper projects and by about 10:30 we all knew it was a terrorist plot -- almost certainly by Bin Laden. When it was clear that these fires were going to burn for a long time he said, "they're trying to melt the buildings down. They won't withstand this.".

The bar hosting the Christmas party ran out of Bullitt Bourbon 2 hours in.

Bunch of heathens... luckily they had Knobb Creek Rye on standby

@Captain Davis

The toughest thing about that French movie is that those fire fighters went in there thinking it was going to be a long day but that they would get it done when in fact they had no chance. It just really bothers me that in all of the training they did ahead of that with those buildings, that it wasn't immediately obvious that this was uncontrollable. I don't know if that's on the engineers, bldg mgmt, the city or the fire dept, but it's a damn tragedy IMHO.

Well tbf the planes didn't cause the buildings to collapse.

Even if they knew it was a Longshot, people were in there and the property all around still had to be protected.

What else could they do?
