Oh FFS. I had been trying to bury my head in the sand on Hurricane Maria, but it's now up to a Cat 3 and only getting stronger. Will probably rape most of the islands Irma already destroyed. Best hope for the VI is that it stays far enough South that they're only getting the outer bands. Puerto Rico is fucked this time after getting somewhat lucky with Irma.

But it won't really hit the mainland so no one will care.

It'll be up to a 4 shortly, it's already at 125 mph winds and by the time it hits PR it'll be 150+
 
My brother has a place in St Thomas and it got absolutely besmirched, he was supposed to be going this up coming weekend to help out, not sure if he will now.

Yeah, I'm reading about it now. We were down to 8 people in the house, but we already told the ones who left to get their asses back to the house and bunker down. Patched up roofs are not what you want to be under, even if it's an indirect hit. Just hoping and praying it stays as far south as possible and just aggravates existing damage instead of creating a new batch of it.

How many people died in a flood in Mumbai that same week? 1,200
