it wasn't THAT close, it wasn't Shogun/Machida 1 IMO
it certainly wasn't close enough to have the on screen guy score it 8-4 GGG, and then two judges score it a draw, and then 10-2 Canelo....

I remember being a ming'd out high schooler for shogun/machida 1. Had in n out later that evening.

but he landed 100 lmore punches, controlled the ring, and was the constant aggressor

that can't be ignored
Where are you getting 100? Thats literally double the actual punch counts.

He didnt control the ring the entire fight. Much of it Canelo was in the center and hed slow down and go back to countering on the ropes.

Aggressor means shit if youre walking forward just to eat leather and miss.

I'm just glad the fight was entertaining and they'll get to do it again.

Except theyre using a silly scorecard to claim a robbery even though everyone also seems to agree it was an extremely close fight.

It cant be both a robbery and a really close fight.
People calling it a robbery are going too far, but when one judge was clearly in the bag from the start, it's bound to piss people off. She should have had some sense and kept it close. If her card had been 115-113 for Canelo, people would still strongly disagree, but they wouldn't being going off like this.

My guess is she saw the middle rounds going the 'wrong' way from her perspective and felt the need to throw them to Canelo in case things got worse. But then Canelo actually took the last 2 (or arguably 3) rounds and she was stuck with a simply ridiculous card, but they have to turn in scores every round so she was stuck.

at least Canelo landed shots every round tho (like the first two, which were very close, and the last two rounds)....

Floyd won 3 of the first 4 rounds on a judges scorecard, in two of those rounds he threw like 15 combined punches....hahah wtf

the compubox stats shown right before the announcement
edit: I just rechecked them, it's only saying 50+ more punches now. landed more in 10 of 12 rounds

I had it 7-5 GGG. Think he should have attacked the body more than he did. Also what happened to Canelo's conditioning. He looked like shit.

He's not used to being pressed at that pace... from the 3rd round on GGG decided he was a predator drone and just started tirelessly cutting him off and peppering him against the ropes. Canelo has never been forced to fight off his back foot like that.

He did a good enough job weathering all that and returning some clean fire but Golovkin was deterred by none of it and it was clear the strategy was to break him down with consistent pressure.

I had it 8-4 Golovkin, hard to find 6 rounds Canelo won. Boxing is terribly corrupt, it's hard to bare.

Canelo fights on the ropes a lot. His head movement and counters are the best in the game currently.

Also. Saw the new IT movie this weekend.

It's a fine movie if you just want to see a semi clever cheap thrills hollywood style horror movie.

But they completely missed the mark with that dumb ass clown, Pennywise is a creepy clown (cause all clowns are creepy) but the whole thing is that he's meant to look like a relatively normal clown, he's just sinister... which makes the shit creepy.

This garbage ass clown was just made to look scary. What's creepy about that? Nothing.

Also, you can build tension in a scene and have things be more terrifying without a bunch of panning the camera "insert thing that pops out of darkness with loud noise". I mean fuck how many times can you do that in one movie?

There's some positives, definitely a massive improvement in acting and production over the original, but the original had the clown nailed down perfect, and didn't succumb to that cheap horror movie formula of things popping at the screen with loud sounds to make you jump.

What could have been fantastic just ended up like a typical Texas Chainsaw movie.

Id also like to point out how fucking laughable it is that all these cans keep crying about boxing corruption. Guess all the shit decisions in mma are different lol.

Teddy Atlas needs to be quiet then. 118-110 GGG is almost as bad as Byrd's card. Canelo clearly won 2,3,11, and 12. 1,4, and 10 were all very close. There is no way to give either guys that wide a margin.

I think people forget how corny and stupid the original IT movie was, the only saving grace was Tim Curry

very campy, and the second half (the adult part) is ridiculously boring.

Canelo will box his ears off when they do it again. Wont be close.

I had a friend say that he saw the movie and as he was walking out he saw a parent with a 4 or 5 year old also leaving.

Parent should be beaten severely. Lol.

the ringside scorer, IIRC, gave Canelo round 1 and GGG round 2....

wait, what

No, it's the same people judging them. They should just do away with decisions. Go a few extra rounds and if no one wins, no one wins.

But pointing to other sports having the same issue is nothing but avoidance. Boxing has a problem. MMA having the same problem doesn't change that.

Thats my point. Judging in general sucks shit. It isnt just boxing like people pretend.

No, Lederman gave GGG rd 1 and Canelo RD 2.
my bad, I watched the BoxNation British Stream, so I didn't have the US announcing team

I forgot that haha
I totally missed the Stephen A/Teddy argument till the next day as a result
