Working 12 hours with someone who doesnt stop talking is not fun. There is a well known unspoken rule on night shifts that about 1-4 is quiet time. What a dick.

You didn't try to pass the time by trying to skim coins from the old farts' cups or trying to short change them at the cashier's window?

Nah. Spent most of my time chatting up the gals working concessions and the windows. Got some decent action out of it, the night gals were generally pretty easy to bag and tag, and being security I had keys to every room, including the hotel. Much shenanigans.

This I can agree with. I do 11.5 every day, minimum. It wreaks havoc on you after a few months, after a few years mentally it just breaks you. If I had to take an 8 hour a day job now I honestly think it would drive me bonkers to not be at work.

Yah, my weeks look like that a lot sadly. Some are better than Others, the worst is around thanksgiving when 80-90 hour weeks are mandatory and considered short.

i dont mind the hours tbh...but the stress, the physicality and demand of my job just sucks sometimes

A good analogy that I heard was that Amazon was $80/share in 1999 and $10 in 2001. What the stock did during that time due to speculation and volatility was irrelevant. What mattered was that Amazon was disrupting the 100+ yr old model for retail.
