News Saudi Boxing League, Run By TKO

Eddie is putting on a brave face but isnt privy to any of the details. There's no such thing as a free lunch, Hearn and Warren have been sleeping well for 18 months, dreaming of the cash rolling in .. but they have also been showing team turki how their businesses function.

So after 18 months … Turki will not have ties with Matchroom or Queensberry and others … only TKO ? …. Modern day Trojan Horse … joined them and now seek to destroy them

Does this mean they're going to go around existing boxing commissions?

Having less weight classes probably won't sound too attractive to fighters.

Also is it just the picture or does Turki have a huge head on a tiny frame? Almost looks photoshopped.

They want to implement the ufc model into boxing … they don’t want the sanctioning bodies

They're almost trying to build a new thing altogether. I wonder how that would work when there's already a sport with sanctioning bodies that have been established for a century. It would only work if they pay enough money to attract fighters and also allow them to fight outside the organization. Why would say the WBC 154 champ want to fight for an org that doesn't even have his weight class and makes him give up his title? If not, this is going to create another Pride vs UFC type situation where the best aren't going to ever fight each other, which is what they're claiming to fix.

Might as well try to start a new football league that's essentially the same sport but with slightly different rules. Do Dana and Turki have enough money to compete with the rest of the entire boxing world?

yes

as for your question regarding the WBC example. Fighters already routinely give up their championships to pursue other fights. Money has always been the reason. Nothing new about that.

That works for single fight deals but if Dana runs TKO like the UFC, that wouldn't be the norm. He seems to hate cross promotion and even said he doesn't want to work with other promoters.

So after watching the Dana White post fight press conference from the lame UFC last weekend, I think I get it the alliance a bit more now.

Looks like Turki & Saudi are kind of done just burning money. In essence the sports washing honeymoon stage is over.
Looks like Turki wants a realistic self sustainable model. So that's why he's farming out the buisness part to White. Dana claims to be running the business part exclusively.

Also seems they want to focus on creating their own talent first & foremost.

Looks like Turki got tired of dealing with the promoters, the orgs, & the fighters all evenly. & that the whimsical bottomless piggy bank days to get fights done will no longer work for him.

Interesting. Don't know if somebody higher up said "no more blank checks" or what.

Interesting.

I’m pretty sure Loeffler and Walsh will be with TKO … Dana invest in this kid’s career and 360 promotions
