SABU dead at 60.

But man Sabu was incredible to behold esp when he first started in ECW the scars the flying through tables. There was never anything like the guy at all. I would buy magazines just to see pictures of the guy.

Here he is in the prime of his life.

Him & RVD - that was glorious. I wish he was appreciated a lot more in WWE, but the way I saw it Sabu himself didn't really feel like he was enjoying his time there. And wasn't there a story when Vince was interested in him in 1997 or something, but Sabu didn't want to sacrifice his character in favor of money?

They originally wanted him to play that sultan character that they wound up giving to rikishi fatu. SABU refused.

Then when they bought ECW, they wanted Sabu to cut promos which he always avoided like the plague.

They just didn't know how to handle a guy like this. SABU had been brought up in a harsh and uncoventional way and stuck to his principles in A hard-line way. Hard to exist in WWE like this.

In credit to him, he wrestled until his death like Dick Murdoch and even late stage he never felt disabled like Ric Flair to me. In a way, i'm also happy that he doesn't have to live as a 75 year old in constant great pain.

I remember in 2009 while he was in JCW, there was a written interview with the question "In 10 years, i want to be ..." and Sabu answered "... alive.". Glad he made it.

Authentic AF. He would have been great in Attitude Era, I think, but much later on - yeah, hardly a chance to let him shine the way he does.
Still, that's kinda strange WWE didn't want Bill Alfonso to cut promos instead of him
