Ryan Hall's NEW DVD'S *Yep,

If you use the code 'BLACK' (for Black Friday) on the link provided by TS, you can get huge savings. I used this opportunity to stock up on a few other Ryan Hall DVDs and other titles I wanted to purchase.

For anyone who doesn't own any Ryan Hall DVD's, get them. They really are the best ones out there. Hell, the TRIANGLE DVD (which came out how many years ago?) is still phenominal.

Even if you can just weave together the passing, back attacks, and arm triangles DVDs I feel like you'll have a great game to work with, especially since the arm triangles set covers so many positions and control points beyond the actual submissions.

Exactly. The concepts in the Back attacks DVD will open up so many kata gatame, ezekiel, and brabo opportunities. Great guard passing opens up back attacks. I can't wait to jump into the Guard Passing concepts that Ryan introduces.

Hmm, didn't Ryan Hall say that he changed his mind about the usefulness of the inverted guard, stating that it was not effective against higher level competition? Interesting that he released a DVD on it.

Not knocking on him at all--his arm triangle DVD has GREATLY expanded my submission game from the top. Just a phenomenal DVD.

Thx for the heads up. Bought the passing DVD for $60. Well worth it if it's like the arm triangle one

I remember reading that he had stopped because of back/neck issues.

Re: techniques that only work at the highest level...you can make this comment about 90% of BJJ techniques. Techniques/positions that are very rarely used at black belt level national competitions:

- inverted guard
- closed guard submissions
- kneeling/sitting closed guard breaks
- kimuras/americanas/omoplatas

I'm sure there are a handful of counterexamples, but at the highest levels you just don't see that stuff much anymore.

I'm just gonna post the chapter list for each DVD

On the third DVD, he shows you how to blink like a BOSS.

Love Ryan's stuff but for god sakes man. Go see a doctor. You must have something pressing on your optic nerve. I think he blinked 500 times in the first minute.

He has Tourette Syndrome. This has been well known for a good 5 or 6 years. Not saying you should have known that, but just letting you know that I'm pretty sure he's well aware.

I am about to be really irresponsible and get a couple of the sets. I've been really impressed with arm triangles.

Does anyone know how long the black friday half off sale is going on? Is it just through Black Friday, through the weekend? Or what? Can't decide which of the sets I want (if any) besides Guard Passing which is for sure.

December 1st is the last day I believe, if you want the 50% off.

Not to point out that you're being a dick, but it is a well-established fact that he has tourettes syndrome and it is responsible for the involuntary blinking.

i heard ryan will see a doctor right after you train one time

I own all of Ryan's sets and they are by far the best DVD's on the market. I can't think of a single DVD that comes even close to the way he explains concepts and the science of positions, not just going through the motions. I haven't seen Braulio's Invisible Jiu Jitsu but he strikes me as having the same style.

These people don't make that much money and owning a school is a tough business. It's important for jiu jitsu as a whole people like Ryan be supported, which includes not making fun of him for having a medical condition or being a cheap asshole who wants to steal it as soon as it comes out.

My money was gone so fast I don't even know what happened. Early christmas present for myself.

Lol at the blinking jokes. To not have caught on that Ryan has tourettes by now is pretty hilarious. Hey did you also hear that Ryan Gracie died and that Eddie Bravo tapped out Royler?

Hey guys, have you all seen Wallid vs Royce? It's crazy!

Since there is the black Friday special what other Ryan Hall DVD set would you guys recommend for someone that is a beginner? I think I would like the guard passing but I may get one more set too since the sale is so good.

Obviously I can't say about the ones that aren't out but the only ones that AREN'T beginner friendly are deep half and 50/50. Especially deep half, that one gets really technical.

Get one that connects with it. So either get the Back Attacks or the Arm Triangles. Both are great. If you want to learn about how to control lots of the top positions and get really good at 2-4 arm triangle style finishes (darce/brabo, side choke, ezekiel, etc.) then go with that one. If you want to learn how to get on the back, stay on the back, and finish, then get the back attacks set. The 3rd disc of that one is all about the rolling back take, which may or may not be complicated for you. I can't answer that. Both are great and would go well with the passing series.
