100% I'm a conservative myself on most topics. Foreign policy is a different animal though and many people just continue to see the conflicts with the same approach they see local politics. As a person whos family has suffered from a brutal discriminating government for decades I really get frustrated when I see people who live in a free country developing a crush for a foreign ruthless blood sucking regime.

This is just about the western establishment vs. Putin and Russia. And I'm sure many people in the Pentagon could be accurately classified as murderers just like Putin could be.

I don't see anything surprising about Putin's behaviour. West wants to militarize the Ukrainian border and naturally Putin has to respond, even if only by flexing. It's a win-win for the west because they either make Putin look weak (and weaken Russia) or make Putin public enemy #1 across the globe. Russia is not what it once was. It has a smaller economy than Canada (lol). So this constant propping up and demonizing of Russia by the US falls on deaf ears to me.

I'm not sure about the specifics of the economic war (people have mentioned the pipeline) going on between the west and Russia, but I don't see Russia as being in a position to throw its weight around. The west, however, is and they seem to be the antagonist if anything.

You can say that Ukraine as a sovereign nation has the right to militarize its border, but you could also say that about Mexico if they aligned with Russia. And we both know that the US wouldn't stand for that if it happened. So let's not be hypocrites about it.

I'm open to changing my opinion, but I don't see how you can look at this situation and say: west = honest+good and Russia = dishonest+evil and come across as being remotely objective. These are just two opponents in a conflict, not a battle of good vs evil like in a little kid's cartoon.

And, for the record, I'm no fan of Putin. I fully understand that he cares only about himself and staying in power. I am just not delusional about western leaders, especially when it comes to foreign policy. They are as big of liars as anyone.

Goddamn, he looks even more weak and frail than usual. It really seems like this conflict is going to happen, no matter how much it appears that the rest of the world doesn't want it to.

Fuck Putin. Hope this ends his regime.

Praying for Ukraine and the Russian people.

Biden just said he is convinced now that invasion will occur. He did not equivocate.

Dark days.

Hope this backfires on Putin. Sad day if this happens. Biden says he KNOWS via intelligence the decision to go in by Putin has been made.

Theres no new updates from what iv seen really except for people of donetsk being evacuated to russia

Driving up oil prices to prop up the Russian government?
Higher price per barrel helps American shale oil producers because it is much more expensive to extract crude using fracking than pumping the sweet crude the Russians and Saudis export. Which is why the Saudis tried to drive the price down a few years back, to destroy American producers.

So why didn't NATO line up its troops on Ukraine's western border and tell Russia, if they invade from the East, NATO will invade from the West and Ukraine gets split in 2.
