I don't think that makes sense. So now they are going to start shooting down Russian planes that come near them? That's not consistent with their claim of not wanting to start WWIII if they have to shoot down Russian planes. That's not what is going to happen at all.

They are going to have fighter escorts to prevent anyone daring to shoot at them in the first place. It's a visible deterrent. I'm sure they would take out the Russian's if they really did attack a NATO plane but I bet they'd be as reluctant as hell to do so. I'd bet their rules of engagement would be absolutely gone over in triplicate to make sure there is absolutely no room for misunderstanding.

I actually agree with you that the Russian's would not be able to do anything about it. But that's my point, it's an EXCUSE for NATO not to get involved. Because if they shoot down a Russian plane and Russia don't respond by declaring war on NATO, then there is no excuse not to implement a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Zelensky would have a field day in the press with that. Can you imagine the ear-bleeding he'd be giving NATO world leaders? Look how pissy the US got when Poland put them in an embarrassing situation by offering to deliver the jets to the US -- who could then provide them to Ukraine.

TLDR: NATO are not scared of shooting down Russian planes because Russia will declare war on NATO. NATO are scared that Russia WON'T declare war on NATO.

Looks reasonable.
Most likely Iran had provided spare parts and guidelines how to assemble drones.
Then terrorists from Syria might had assembled them and shipped to Russia.
Ofc most likely some part of batches they IMHO had kept for their own needs...rest part sent to Russia and Iran waving hands in innocence: these aren't our drones.
For Russia after this enough just to paint drones with russian letters and color...and use Iranian advisors to teach prepare " motorbikes " for launch...

Yes the rest of NATO would want the US to lead but I've never seen the rest of NATO so resolute about any one issue. This isn't some Iraq invasion built on a flaky WMD claim or 'peacekeeping' in Afghanistan. I don't know the numbers but I've heard (from serving and ex-soldiers) there is quite a sizeable number of British soldiers going AWOL to help in Ukraine as well as many ex-soldiers. The British media are burying it though. I bet it's not just British soldiers either. The European arm of NATO now fully acknowledge where the biggest most prevalent threat lies, let them do much of the heavy lifting to gain some confidence dealing with their main enemy. As long as NATO sticks to pushing Russia out of Ukraine, there will be no risk of nuclear threat.

Everybody is now aware that NATO would decimate Russian forces, including Putin. Even the Russian media pundits openly admit it. He's extremely concerned that NATO will come for him in Russia. As long as it's clear they just get out of Ukraine, and we aren't invading Russia, no one is using nukes. It would just be suicide for Putin. And he does not seem suicidal to me since he's doing everything in his power to stay alive. I've seen asthmatic pensioners less afraid of catching covid than Putin.

As you've pointed out, Putin appears extremely paranoid. Nobody really knows how much of his rhetoric he actually believes or how much is for the zombie babuskhas, but when the states are as high as global annihilation it's not a good idea to test the boundaries. To annihilate Russia in Ukraine NATO wouldn't even need to get involved directly. It could be done entirely through weapon donations: If we just handed the Ukrainians 3/4 of our cruise missile stocks they could push Russia out within a month or less; but even doing that would likely be seen as a major provocation. In order to maintain reputation internationally, NATO needs to stick to it's remit. It damaged it's reputation when it acted outside that remit in Yugoslavia and gave Putin political capital to use against the west.

These are the unwritten rules of a proxy war. Exactly the same thing played out in reverse when the soviets were helping the Vietnamese repel the American invaders. The soviets provided them with equipment but it was a balancing act of not pissing off Washington too much. The Ukrainians want more and better weapons, we want to supply them, but they still need to be seen to be doing the majority of the fighting; otherwise it's no longer really their war and it becomes entirely Russia vs NATO.

Micron seems to want Ukraine to lean towards Russia "Basically giving into to some kind or reduced deal but will still end up on the losing end and US already said the deal is a bad one for Ukraine". Obviously according to people familiar with the situation says Italy's new PM seems to be having a hand in this having hosted the NATO event in Italy yet posted support to Ukraine. I used to think highly of Micron but he has made a mess of France with his constant shifting.

The theory: Upland speed cameras are stolen - and used in Russian drones

Speed cameras worth millions have been stolen from roads in Uppland (Sweden) recently, as P4 Uppland previously reported.

Now Aftonbladet writes that the same cameras found in speed cameras are used in Russian home-built drones. Säpo tells the newspaper that they are aware of the connection but do not want to go into more detail about their intelligence work.

Hans Liwång at the University of Defense says that it is possible that a need for these cameras has led to an increased interest in stealing them.

Yeah, there are enugh politicians in europe who want Ukr to make at least temporary ceasefire with Russia.
Russia will use this to rest and regroup + accumulate weapons and ammunition.

+ I had posted months ago that Su-27 and later models are far more sensitive to mainetnance quality than the same Mig s ....

The main reason is cos to correct something if balance/ torque/ steering isn't close to ideal....it will be death spinning curse or some other shit.

Mig 29 and even Mig 25, Mig 31, Su 25 etc and Su17 are more durable in this kind of possible problems....
