"It is on purpose that we have slowed down the advance in Ukraine, says Russia's defense minister"
It is with full deliberation that the Russian invasion forces have recently lost their breath on the battlefield in Ukraine.

This is what it sounds like on Wednesday from the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu.

- Everything is being done to avoid civilian casualties. It naturally slows down the pace of the offensive, but we do it deliberately, says Sergei Shoigu, according to Reuters, at a defense minister's meeting in Uzbekistan.

- We do everything to observe humanitarian rights during the special operation and carry out our attacks on the Ukrainian military installations with precision weapons, adds the Russian Defense Minister

The push to Kyiv was just a feint also

The push to Kyiv was just a feint also
The push to Kyiv was just a feint also

It is impossible that this was " just feint ".
In order to tie Ukr forces in Kiev oblastj was enough without any invasion from Belarus territory...
Why?
Because Belarus in some weaponary wasn't inferior vs Ukraine.
For example number of the same Uragan launchers wasn't lower than Ukr had...and at least 600 main battle tanks and at least 100 airplanes, plus Lukashenko does have at least 60 Scud and 38 Thocka launchers...unknown number of Polonez MRLS ......

If bear in mind that Russia then had a lot of military in Belarus too....

Just a feint is reality that they had shelled Ukr with missiles from Belarus this month.
A feint that they are providing airfields for Russia to use...and station their SAM systems and even tanks?
Proved with sat images....
Also most likely Belarus still is providing Russia with fuel from their refineries and soviet era ammo from their stocks....

I was being sarcastic. It clearly wasn’t a feint but our resident goofs claimed it was.

Our national TV began livestreaming of the demolition of the WW2 victory monument (or the soviet occupation monument, depends who answers the question) half an hour ago. <45>

Vatniks are devastated.

looks like we are using the war to test out new stuff

I do not know why would they call it a anti uav system when the "anti uav" part is pretty much just an afterthought of what could we do with the APKWS if it used a proximity fuze.
APKWS as a system is as simple as it is genius.

I am not knowledgable at all about Russian or American equipment quality, although just based on the amount of money the US spends on the military I strongly reckon it must be better. The question is how much better is it and is it worth the price?

@GhostZ06 is probably the most knowledgable in this thread when it comes to military equipment weapons. Do you reckon Russia has any equipment or weapons that are as good or even better than US ones?

Theoretically the Coalition-CV is "better" than the M109. Much newer and the M109 is looking to be replaced. Haven't seen it in the war though so that's not a great sign.

Better is kinda funny as America doesn't sell the good stuff. I'm Australian, we were there in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and you still won't sell us the good planes. Just think about how fucking crazy that is. We're offering billions of dollars and pilots for planes that will just be used in American wars, basically subsidizing your already massive army and you still won't give us the good shit.

Fuckin disgrace.

It's kinda moot though as "best" isn't as important as value and Russia generally can't match that. American kit is really good value. There's a whole slew of advantages to being number one that make it hard to surpass. Large orders will cover blowouts in R&D. Blowing 5 billion isn't that big a deal if you have 400 planes to spread it over. Then you have the international market. Massive production decreases costs of production per unit and American MIC has that in spades. Then you have ease of repairs. It's like getting a ferrari but the parts are as abundant as a toyota. They're everywhere. They'll get new systems, upgrades. Then when you want to sell the resale is great.

I won't bore you with more but there's a lot of big pros with buying American weapons.

China beat Russia to 5th gen fighter and they have a LOT more of their plane than Russia does. Second largest economy, Massive manufacturing and are directing a massive chunk of their military budget towards R&D. Their army is likely incompetent but their goal is tech right now and arguably are already winning that battle with Russia. Add the size and they'll win on value in most instances now too.

The push to Kyiv was just a feint also

It wasn't a feint it was an attempt to win the war right away and it wasn't done because they actually wanted to conquer the Kiev Oblast.

Yes they aren't Nazis but are tearing down things celebrating the defeat of the Nazis. The special campaign in Ukraine in 1943 was where the initative on the eastern front was flipped.

Because it barely exists.

The singer who represented Russia at Eurovision in 2021 is being targeted by a cyberbullying campaign over her opposition to the war in Ukraine.

Manizha Sangin has been an outspoken critic of the invasion, calling it a "fraternal conflict" that goes "against the will" of Russian people.

Now, a co-ordinated online campaign is trying to blacklist the star in Russia.

Many of her concerts this summer have been scrapped after details of the organisers were posted on social media.

"She, her team and the promoters [have] received many threats", Sangin's spokesman Sergey Lakovlev told the BBC.

One message shared on social media site Telegram includes the phone number and address for organisers of September's Aleksandrovskaya Fortress festival, which celebrates the Cossack culture of Ukraine and southern Russia.

It urges people to "write in" and "demand to cancel the performance of Manizha, saying that she opposes the Russian army".

It adds: "Most importantly, be polite and non-offensive. It is important that there are a lot of requests, so spread the word."
