International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V8

Putin's actions really remind me of the fable of the Frog and the Scorpion. It had a sweet deal going with Europe, supplying much of it's energy. And ironically, that fable has it's origin in Russia.

I've posted it a bunch already but a reporter was talking about how he specifically asked someone in Europe about why they are relying on Russia so much for energy and how dangerous that is. He was laughed at and told that Russia is the one becoming reliant on them for their money. Yet here we are.

that's a good point , russia is retaliating against any Nation who doesnt support their war and uses energy as a weapon...only prob as you cut off the energy you also cut off your own cash which is a slippery slope to go down especially at a time when they are getting more desperate by the day.
Germany was recently in Canada meeting with our dweeb PM and an energy deal could be made which would be use for our country , Germany and taking away another one of Russia's bloodlines...however due to the climatards pulling some strings and our commitment to the Paris climate accord a deal is going to be complicated.

Yep it's going to take time but in the end Russia will be worse off for this. I don't think they expected this sort of reaction from the world though. They most likely expected some small sanctions that they could tolerate and that would be that.

A Pentagon press release listed the following items as being included in the new nearly $3 billion aid package:

  • Six more NASAMS along with unspecified "additional munitions" for them
  • "VAMPIRE Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems"
  • Unspecified Laser-guided rocket systems
  • Up to 245,000 rounds of 155mm artillery ammunition
  • As many as 65,000 rounds of 120mm mortar ammunition
  • Up to 24 unspecified counter-artillery radars
  • Additional RQ-20 Puma drones and "support equipment" for a previously announced transfer of Scan Eagle unmanned aircraft
  • Funding for training, maintenance, and sustainment.
The inclusion of six more NASAMS, as well as more munitions for them to fire, is particularly significant. The U.S. government had previously announced plans to transfer two NASAMS to Ukraine.

It remains unclear how the NASAMS heading to Ukraine will be configured. A number of different versions of the system exist now, made up of different combinations of launchers, radars and other sensors, and command and control nodes. For instance, certain variations of NASAMS incorporate missile launchers mounted on Humvees or other light vehicles. Tests have also been conducted of the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) vehicle, which Ukraine has now received at least 16 of, as a launch platform for the AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), which could be utilized with NASAMS.

As such, depending on how it is configured, NASAMS has the ability to provide various levels of both short and medium-range air defense capacity. It does seem most likely that Ukraine's NASAMS will fire AIM-120s, at least initially, as there is a solid supply chain for these missiles and the country is most in need now of extra area air defense capacity.
With eight total systems, the Ukrainian armed forces will be able to provide immediate protection against various aerial threats, including aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones, at a greater number of total locations, such as cities or specific high-value facilities. Beyond all this, NASAMS, which was developed jointly by American defense contractor Raytheon and Norwegian firm Kongsberg, is simply more modern and capable all around than Ukraine's existing Soviet-era short and medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.
The question now is how fast the U.S. government might be able to facilitate the delivery of these systems. A senior U.S. defense official said last week that Ukraine is expected to take delivery of the first two systems, which were also purchased via the USAI, in the next two to three months. Whether or not this reflects some degree of spare production capacity available at Raytheon and/or Kongsberg is unclear. Purchasing previously unsold systems that Raytheon or Kongsberg already had on hand or acquiring them through the redirection of systems already being produced for other customers, or directly from third parties, are also options. The U.S. military does not currently have an active acquisition pipeline for complete NASAMS of its own that could have leveraged in this case.
As already noted, the NASAMS for Ukraine are not coming from American stocks, either. This makes sense given that the U.S. military's current arsenal of NASAMS, which is small and almost exclusively positioned to provide critical air defense coverage around Washington, D.C., and the greater National Capital Region.
Concerns about industrial base capacity to sustain deliveries of key weapon systems to Ukraine, especially missiles and other guided munitions, have already emerged. Military aid to Ukraine has already prompted pushes to increase production and expand supplier bases for the Javelin shoulder-fired anti-tank missile and the Stinger shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile, the latter also being referred to as Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS). There are now similar discussions being had in regards to the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) rockets that Ukraine has received for use with its growing fleet of M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and variants of the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).

Goes into where things are and what it might take for one side to defeat the other.
How Russia is now the much lesser partner of China now.
Prisoners being recruited for the Russian army.

Plus more. It's only 9 minutes.

The new tranche of aid from the U.S. government includes six more National Advanced Surface to Air Missile Systems, or NASAMS, and an unspecified number of counter-drone systems called Vampire, along with more artillery ammunition, radars, and other materiel. The planned transfers are expected to occur over the course of a number of years, underscoring a new and important focus on bolstering the Ukrainian military's capabilities in the longer term, regardless of how the current conflict might evolve.

Good to know regardless the situation it's going to take years to get the aid. Guess it really is going to be another forever war just shelling the shit out of each other in established lines.

Sigh. What a waste of lives.

You seem to post a lot of videos from this guy. Do you feel he is credible? Ive watched a few from your posts. I just can't help but feel this guy is a neckbeard.

I think he provides good information that's spoken in understandable terms. He's not speaking to the elite, but to the every-person. Don't take his word as gospel, but he does a lot of research and you'll be able to fact-check rather easily.

Its his pauses in his speach that bothers me.

He's from Florida. That's just how we talk down here but sometimes he does it to emphasize a point. Think of it like a small audiobook. ;)

That would drive me nuts. I would rather read the book, if that was the case. Its like he has cotton mouth. Someone needs to send this guy some bottled water.

I heard India is full to capacity.

Also the problem is Russia can't easily get rid of it's gas. Many were claiming they would just sell to Asia, as if gas is a fungible commodity but it really isn't because the pipeline capacity simply does not exist to enable such a pivot. Russia has really shot itself in the foot.

Putin's actions really remind me of the fable of the Frog and the Scorpion. It had a sweet deal going with Europe, supplying much of it's energy. And ironically, that fable has it's origin in Russia.

A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I am sorry, but I couldn't resist the urge. It's in my nature.

They have started to burn it. The "flames" and smoke was so big it could be seen in Finland.
I posted about it earlier.
They are "literally" forced to burn money and income.

"It is on purpose that we have slowed down the advance in Ukraine, says Russia's defense minister"
It is with full deliberation that the Russian invasion forces have recently lost their breath on the battlefield in Ukraine.

This is what it sounds like on Wednesday from the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu.

- Everything is being done to avoid civilian casualties. It naturally slows down the pace of the offensive, but we do it deliberately, says Sergei Shoigu, according to Reuters, at a defense minister's meeting in Uzbekistan.

- We do everything to observe humanitarian rights during the special operation and carry out our attacks on the Ukrainian military installations with precision weapons, adds the Russian Defense Minister

It's quite incredible that these scumbag bastards can give 'sermons' with a straight face, having just bombarded another civilian target (a train station in Chaplyne) with 22 dead and 50 injured.
I guess we can call Russia a terrorist state.

Funniest thing is that now Gazorom lads like Gerhard and Co and their mates + pro Gazprom oriented " Gazprom " " greens " are loosing their impact.

Climatards and " nature " ( read Gazprom ) friends not only are against LNG terminals and any local fuel...
They are against even hydroelectric power plants, solar panels and wind parks....

Actually it wasn't easy even just to get permit gor wind park, biogas plant etc....
Because a lot of these " nature friends " are 2 variants most likley: pro Gazprom oriented and just hiding this ...OR ....dreamers thinking that electricity is created in.....connector and money in ATM machine...

__
We had get drilling permit we had fought for....4 years.....in row...
We get permit for new solar park in southern europe, approx 400 000-500 000 kW in few months...before shit with Russia it was few years long " discussions "...
Wind park permit ~800 000 kW ......this had been " discussed " 3 years in row....now gubbermint needed just 2months to sign permit....

^_
For long term shit for Russia will be deeper , because they will have lesser and lesser tools to blackmail us...
We need to get rid of Russia as commodities supplier because they are using supplies as tool for blackmail.
They hate us and are thinking that we don't see that they weaponize even refugees .....cos large number of them creates huge $ expenses and stress in population.....

I might easily to see that some ppl are thinking : waste of lifes, better they had surrounded and accepted rusification and incorporation in Russia or had at least been turned into Belarus No2...
And then Russia again will be our friend ( because according to Kremlin's propaganda for russians we will die without their export ) and everything will be cool and beautiful......

Will not be....
Then will be Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan etc...
Russia also is improving realtionships with Iran and North Korea for a reason....long term targets...

Kremlin is expecting that Hungary, France and Germany are capable to defend them in west politically.
It will not work...

Kremlin for sure is expecting that we will just " print money " in order to bear refugees influx and pay for their natural gas etc shit....and ofc sell bounds in order to tackle this all endlessly...
And live in fear and dance under macaron and this hungarian and german lad.
It will not happen...
More likely U.S and U.K will relocate Ramshtein to Poland rather than dance under natural gas addicts music...
And they aren't alone in the world at all, like Kremlin might dream...

The first volunteer from my country was confirmed killed recently. He died trying to recapture a trench on the other side of the world, it's sad that my first though was that's a very ww1 wag to die.
