International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V7

I am on the Ukrainian side but it rubs me the wrong way when I read all the hateful comments from liberals on Reddit about wanting ordinary Russians to be deported and punished with sanctions. I mean where were they when ISIS was a thing? Did they wanted all Muslims to be deported and punished for the terrorism in the Middle East and in Europe against non sunni muslims? Not all Russians are bad.

Well there actually was a lot of knee jerk hatred towards Muslims after September 11th. It wasn’t right then either though. Yes this is stupid and racist the way they’re acting towards those Russians

Ok, but what the fuck is the average Russian citizen going to do about it in an individual level?

The average Ivan isn't going to do anything and that's the problem. They don't even want to.

Most russians that flee do it so they don't have to worry about sanctions and they can go to McDonalds again, not because of their virtuous beliefs.

Putin is their daddy because they want him to be, so it's time for them to answer for their choice and the destruction it has brought to the world.

The Russians must be shiteing their pants and leaving Ukraine even as we post.

Oh I get it.

Crimea is the pants of Ukraine, and Seagal is #2.

Edit: Jokes aside, Seagal is a fucking scumbag and a traitor to the United States who actively serves a government that wants to see the US burnt to the ground. We can joke all we want, (because we have free speech, unlike Russian citizens) but don't pretend you love America and then bow to that enemy combatant serving in Putin's media and public relations wing.

Germany is really in a heck of a bad position. Their economic model depended on cheap Russian energy. They can source energy elsewhere, but it will take a long time and be much, much more expensive. The price itself will make Germany not competitive, and major chemical concerns in Germany (BASF) have already begun shutting down plants and will be laying off workers. Germany is an export economy; this will deal it a very bad blow. At best, there will be political chaos in Germany; at worst, you might see populists come to power who attempt to reconcile with Russia.

That's of course bad news for our good friends like @Zinger , squeezed between the Germans and Russians yet again.

People have repeated that line about Germany being reliant on cheap Gas constantly, while ignoring that obviously every country would like cheap resources and some do have cheap gas as well, but also that Germany having access to normal prices gas greatly benefits the EU as a whole. What do you think is going to happen to the Southern European countries, and then also to the EU, if the biggest net payer can’t pay anymore? Keep in mind that gas is only one part of the equation. Electricity prices are the highest in Germany, we have the highest taxes and social safety and pension costs and also have the most refugees in all European countries. Gas prices further increasing will impact tens of millions of people in Germany. Choose your poison.

Germany didn't lowered natural gas prices in europe...
Pretty opposite: 2008-2022 th they had closed 11 nuclear power plants blocks...
With total power to gird... 13517 000 kW.
This is replaced by....Natural gas from Gazprom...
Because " local coal is bad coal "...

France unlike Germany at least didn't had " killed " their nuclear power industry .....
Therefore they are blamed lesser than Germany...

Despite propaganda tales about " cheap " natural gas from Russia....
After Germany closed almost all nuclear power plants and started to use more natural gas...
electricity and natural gas prices for ppl and factories had....Increased!
Even before 2022 th...

Latvian parliament names Russia terrorism-supporting state

https://www.saeima.lv/en/news/saeim...declaring-russia-a-state-sponsor-of-terrorism

On Thursday, August 11, the Latvian Saeima (parliament) issued a statement in which Russian violence against civilians was recognized as terrorism and Russia as a country supporting terrorism.

In the statement, the Saeima calls on the countries of the European Union to immediately suspend the issuance of tourism and entry visas to Russian and Belarusian citizens.

“Russia has been providing support and financing for terrorist regimes and organizations for many years, directly and indirectly, as the largest arms supplier for the Assad regime in Syria and as an implementer, such as the poisoning of the Skripal family or the shooting of the MH-17 aircraft. In Ukraine, Russia has chosen a similar, cruel, immoral, and illegal tactic, using imprecise and internationally banned weapons and ammunition, targeting disproportionate brutality against civilians and public places. In order to achieve the objectives of its illegal, aggressive war, Russia aims to intimidate and demoralize the Ukrainian people and armed forces, to paralyze the state's capacity - to occupy Ukraine, that is, Russia implements this violence for political purposes,” said Rihards Kols, Chair of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Commission.

In the statement, the Saeima notes that since Russia's unprovoked military attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, twelve million Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes and more than five million have been forced to leave their country. During this period, human rights protection groups and international observation missions reported atrocities committed by the Russian armed forces against Ukrainian civilians, including torture, rape, killings, and mass detentions of civilians in so-called filtration centers, as well as mass deportations, according to the statement.

Less than 24 hours after Ukraine and Russia signed an agreement on the resumption of exports of cereals blocked in Ukraine through Turkey and the United Nations over the Black Sea, the Russian forces launched a missile attack on the port of Odesa on July 23, demonstrating its contempt for its commitments, international order and its institutions, and deliberately continued to deepen the global food crisis, hunger and suffering around the world, said the statement.

In its statement, the Saeima stresses that Russia uses suffering and intimidation as an instrument in its attempts to demoralize the Ukrainian people and armed forces. The Saeima acknowledges Russia's violence against civilians, which is being pursued for political purposes, as terrorism and Russia as a country supporting terrorism, and calls on other similar-thinking countries to express such an opinion.

Parliamentarians categorically condemn the military aggression and large-scale invasion of Ukraine with the support and engagement of the Belarusian regime, and call on the Euro-Atlantic Community and its partners to urgently step up and introduce comprehensive sanctions against Russia, including the European Union Member States to immediately suspend tourism and limit the issuance of entry visas to citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus.

In its statement, the Saeima mentions all victims of Russian aggression in Ukraine and expresses its solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

Meanwhile let's resume buying gas from Russia.

No wonder...
When Gerhard ruled Germany they were friendly and sold natural gas gird operator company...majority of shares get Rhurgas and Gazprom...

After this Germany had started to tell how bad is peat...

+ they actively are telling how bad is peat ....this for Finland, Estonia and Latvia and Lithuania and Poland and Ireland...
While for Estonia they are also telling how bad is oil shale...
For Hungary and Romania & Greece they are telling how bad is coal and local lignite...

___
They never are telling that Gazporm natural gas is bad....

I just can imagine how " low " had been natural gas prices if Finland didn't had built new large reactor...
+ Greece and Romania if had ceased to usd coal and lignite and switched to NG...

We most likely had felt apart from price hike already in 2021 th.

Since the west is happy to be allied to the 2 biggest state sponsors of terrorism, does that really mean anything?
