The idea of the minerals deal in Ukraine, which Zelensky completely fucked up, was going to put US companies and Americans in Ukraine. American contractors on the ground in Ukraine. That was one of many steps in keeping the Russian military out of Ukraine and/or advancing westward.

Let's be honest Europe don't have a choice, they either step up and give Ukraine what's needed or they can start making the russian language an official language in all their countries.

Putin and Russia are not going to invade Europe.
First: France, Britain, and Germany have nuclear missiles. Germany has US nuclear missiles.
Second: If Russia can't take all of Ukraine in 3 years, how will they take all of Europe.
Third: Russia has entirely too many problems at home to be worried about expanding its border.

* Ukraine was the crown jewel of the USSR. This is something Putin wants back (even if partially) and certainly out of NATO membership. In many ways, Putin has already achieved that.

He fought in the Mahmund Valley, where he commanded a company of the 35th Sikh Regiment.
He was captured by the Boers during the Boer War.


World War I
Churchill saw action in the trenches of France.

[ One operation - the Dardanelles Campaign - cost him his position and haunted him for many years. Forced to leave the Admiralty and given a token position, he resigned from government and rejoined the Army, commanding the 6th battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers in the trenches of France.]
