The difference is that USSR was going to station their nukes in Cuba...that's quite different then a sovereign nation joining a defensive pact. I was being unnecessarily flippant there. I get it, turning a colonel in SBU is big but US has had its share of spies over the years. Maybe they weren't active colonels but it was huge nevertheless. I expect nothing less since Ukraine and Russia were extremely close.

Interesting. This could be an opportunity for China to weasel it's way into gaining more influence in Europe and the world order. Imagine if China is the one that steps in and ends this war lol.

The changing landscape in global security is being reflected in the stock market. Stock prices of European and Korean defense companies shot up. I should've thought to buy Rheinmetall shares when this whole debacle went down.
