Khodakovsky trying to calm down the russian audience in his telegram:
You have often observed scenes when, at the climax, spectators increase their support for players, athletes or anyone else with loud shouts, honking horns, applause...? And even in controversial situations, it is often the spectator reaction that can push the judges to make a decision - it is difficult to always be objective. And if we are talking about ratings, then it is the spectator sympathy that determines everything. Therefore, now the main task of the opponent is to accompany his actions with such noise that any result seems stunning. To say that the practical consequences of his actions are worthless and do not harm us is the same as repeating the children's ditty: "and it does not hurt me - the chicken is happy." This is not serious. But it is also not serious to be led by the background noise from the audience. Strictly, coldly, rationally - that is the only way. Don't feel sorry for yourself, don't spare your pride, don't mislead our citizens - but don't whine or get hysterical either. Everything is more complicated than it seemed at first - but in the end everything will be as we need it.
