International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

With Western SAM systems : they is easier to operate than soviet systems due to high automatization level....
If Ukr have fresh pupps then ofc training might take long time.

While if you have educated and experience with S-200 and S-300 operators and sadly are experiencing lack of missiles....
Then you might sent them to learn how to use SAMP-T, Patriot, NASAMS, Iris -T ......then result will be surprisingly quickly.....

Unlike about pilots , about SAM operators threy didn't AFAIK claimed about shortage in supply.......they told that missiles stockpiles are drainig out....
Soo NYT ran satelllite images over ukr positions to help explain why russia has managed to gain rapid victories in last 2 weeks (ammo problem being the biggest reason) and apperantly defensive positions are badly build

In Avdiivka area really even pro Ukr bloggers are yelling how badly built are def positions after Avdiivka.
Avdiivka unlike portrayed by pro russian sources instead of mythic NATO fortress was....mainly fortified by local coal miners and....USSR era produced mines.
While during 8 years Ukr didn't had bothered to build anything serious behind Avdiivka....
Not even to produce mines and install minefields.
Ukr also is running out of air Def missiles and they managed to drop a lot of gliding bombs while didn't managed close pincers due to minefields in Avdiivka closest area....

Then there is one reality.
West had policy 1992-2022 th even not to sell Ukraine heavy weapons. For real money.
Ukr government still kept Dreams on Western help and didn't had bothered even to produce gunpowder and even just simple mines and cheap mortars............
While rus propaganda portrayed Ukr as armed till teeth by NATO while in reality West didn't had sold them heavy weapons and Ukraine despite loud talks had actively deMilitarized 30 years in row....

Heavy weapons usually are considered artillery 100mm caliber and more , mortars starting with 120 mm caliber and missiles with range more than 20 km....

Ukraine didn't had bothered even to produce mortars....cheap stuff....or 7,62 mm cartridges.

Yeah, some specimens for Neptune and Stugna ATGM they had produced....etc stuff.

Also offered to sell Bulat tanks while majority of their tanks were USSR era stuff....and they worked very hard to reduce number of their on paper working tanks from more than 4000 in 1992 th till < 900 in february 2022 th.

Why not lay mines? I'm assuming Ukraine must have inherited a huge amount from the USSR. Did they get rid of them all?

Time to lock them up. Biden. Doesn't need congress to arrest them as traders.

Putin will order to continue....replacements he still is able to hire ..
He wants to annex all areas he had annexed on paper and will send troops and airplanes more and more.
Congress not likely will approwe aid this month.

Yeah, at least in some areas they had planted damn a lot of mines and IEDs.....on industrial scale....therefore so long time took to take Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
While not all areas they had mined....

Also laziness to build fortifications 2 nd and 3 lines in some areas ...8years in row....

Also russian trenches networks usually are in better qa
ulity than ukr.
BTW I have no clue why despite seing that separatists are building decent fortifications a d bunkers networks, accumulating weapons....producing ammo ....
Ukraine didn't had invested enough in their own fortifications 8 years in row...
