International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

Kinda fascinating that 107 years after WW1 ended and trench warfare is still a thing.
Not much choice when the Ukrainians have knocked out over 20,000 tanks and armored vehicles in 3 years.

Trench tactics were 'defeated' by coordinated combined arms and mechanized warfare. Air superiority and armored formations. Russians can't muster enough of either at this point.

I find it interesting that this conflict has basically removed all traditional foot recon/sabotage "behind enemy lines" stuff

On ukr foreign legion reddit they say all recon guys are being used for trench assaults.

No one can get any "behind enemy line" types actually behind the line since everything is being observed 24/7 via drones and all is visible from frontline to 20km deep

There are also so called ground radars, some bunches of models are even man portable. Originally these were mainly for border guards type applications.
There are also CCTV type cameras, day/night mode, might be used with wired connections...like these hunters and inspectors are using in forests.
Also thermals , might be mounted on jeeps etc...
Then acoustic sensors and stuff like microfones..

Ofc also traditional stuff like signal wires....

Mines....
There not only just drones are used.

Literally one from most nasty solutions is to install ( if area is without activities in Grey zone ) some 16-32 cameras , camouflage them properly, connect with cables and somewhere in bunker 1 guy might sit in front of 4- 6 laptops and watch...
Due to using cables ...cameras doesn't emmit radio signal easy to detect, operator too just uses listening equipment...
So difficult to get where are cameras and operator.
Relatively cheap and simple solution.
Cons are that if cable is damaged camera will not transfer image.

Pros that it is doable with 100% civilian equipment.

I don't think that Trump does think about ukr at all.
His focus now is on tariffs, Panama and look that next will be Greenland.

If about minerals, doesn't looks that he cares what oblastjs will control ukr or Russia.
It is rumoured that Putin too had offered mineral deal. Probably ofc in occupied by Russia areas....and why not if they even told that there might be discussions about arctic and arctic resources....

Putin certainly doesn't wants ceasefire.
Russia is increasing pressure on frontlines.

Recently they had launched group of Caliber missiles.

Group of Tu 95 relatively soon will reach launch " corridors ", probably in order to launch air to ground cruise missiles....

Will see after some hours what had happened in Ukr.

Some hilarious shit right here.

Your sons are sent into a meat-grinder only for you to be gifted one for their needless deaths...

Russian soldiers tortured???!?!?

By Russian police?!?!?!

I saw another video of a Russian guy who served got beat up by the police and the cops stole his money and his car lol.

About ten years ago I read about Russian recruitment problems and certain parasites would exploit soldiers for the pay they receive. Gang members would hang out outside army bases to jump guys who finished service and discharged because they would have money. Officers would pocket pay meant for their men. Officers would beat up or threaten to not pay soldiers if they didn't extend their contracts. I guess not much as changed except now cops are doing the same thing.

I remember back when the war started this guy was saying it was a matter of time before Russia wins the war. I thought his prediction was wrong seeing how the war went but now, he might be right.

I can see that things look gloomy for Ukraine right now, but I still think that Ukraine will still be standing once this is all over. Russia doesn't have the manpower to occupy an adversarial nation and occupy it.

The numbers aren't there, and they've burned through too many bodies just to get to this point.

In the same vein, airborne troops are essentially useless too. You'll jump into enemy lines and just get picked off by drones unless you can dig trenches really really fast.

Putin never wanted a ceasefire much less peace. As soon this war ends, the Russian economy is going to collapse and 100s of thousands of guys with PTSD go back home to no jobs waiting for them. Russian citizens are going to see all those guys with missing limbs. Even if Russia wins, this isn't going to end well for them. If Ukraine falls, I can see Russia quickly gearing up for a new war. At the very least Russian forces are going to be kept in Ukraine and not allowed to return home.

Did Putin forget that the Soviet Union got bogged down in Afghanistan for 10 years and was one of the reasons why the USSR collapsed. Russia lost way more troops in 3 years than they did in Afghanistan in 10 years.

There's no way Ukraine gives up anytime soon. I can't think of a single historical example of a country getting invaded, locked in a long grinding attritional war, and eventually capitulating. I'm no expert but I can't think of any example.

In every example I can think of, the aggressor was the one who eventually gave up /surrendered or the aggressor won very quick decisive victories. The Winter War is maybe the most similar example to this current conflict but we know the USSR didn't really win that war.

The best way I can see Russia winning is to conduct a huge operation that will give them a really decisive victory, but it doesn't seem possible at this point. They don't have the material to even think of operations like that. They don't even have air superiority. Slow attritional grind is their only way but they're at a disadvantage being the aggressor. I do think the Russia can win, but it's going to be at such a cost that I would be surprised if Russia doesn't collapse immediately after the win, at which point Ukrainian partisans will probably just declare independence again.
