1. Unlike Ukraine, Russia had modernized their air forces , so they were technically superiour vs ykr ...plus ofc number of helicopters and jets awailable : considerably more than ukr might had to dream about.
Their superiority in aviation actually might not get calculated just from bare numbers, also from upgrades their even USSR era jets had ....
Literally maybe 25- 35 vs 1 superiority...

Significant superiority in air defense , where Ukraine had degraded their potential during 30 years in row despite loud talks....
There russia unlike Ukr had invested damn a lot during 30 years in row...

In february 2022 th after shit had started ....ukr admitted that they on paper does have lesser than 900 main battle tanks on paper in working condition.
Majority of these were not upgraded and ukr rushed to attach USSR 1980 ies era Kontakt 1 old design reactive plates ...after war 2022 had started....

Ofc they had some modernized tanks and these advertized Oplot etc...
While in reality appeared that more than 50% from their tanks were not upgraded T-64 and T-72 in condition like they never had saw any upgrade after 1992 th.

Not lesser important factor was reality that ukraine like russia is kleptocracy + some % of their population is dreaming about communism and USSR... plus ofc some % of pro kremlin oriented nationalists.

There easy to get that kleptocrats does care only about $, who will pay more, there they will help...pofig will pay Zimbabwe or Russia ....more $ = better.

If about 63 y.o ....russian military had hired such age specialists only IF ...they had high level skills and wasn't possible to hire younger specialists....and ofc this wasn't for trenches, mainly technical specialists with very good education and decades of succesful experience under belt.... really serious uncles.

Rus military also didn't had allowed persons with criminal record or foreigners....it was taboo.

While for this so called small special operation Russia is using different criteria...there yes, now prisoners and persons with criminal records, foreigners from 18 y.o age till unlimited age are allowed and hired.... Putin also is offering not only premial bonuses for contract signing paid from Federal Budget, he also had orderd regions and cities to pay additional bonuses from regional and municipal budgets....

This is not only just such reality. Putin is offering russian citizenship for foreigners who had signed contract for small special operation. Thus far approx 12 000 foreigners already get russian citizenship because they had signed for small special operation in Ukraine....

Putin now is offering russian citizenship for immigrants located in russia IF they will sign for small special operation in Ukraine and will do job for this in Ukraine.

Russia already looks that had spent def budget and infrastructure budget scheduled and approwed for 2024 th. Despite this for December 2024 th President Putin had ordered to use funding scheduled for january and february 2025 th this month, i.e December 2024 th.
Putin had told that in January 2025 th funding for special operation will be increased if to compare with funding special operation will get this month...december 2024 th.

Literally things looks very simple: Putin wants to control as much land as it is possible regardless from expenses.

At least yet he didn't had used government managed pensions funds savings. While in Russia some politicians long ago had advised Putin to do this....
