International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

"An army marches on its belly."

- Napoleon

"The lifeblood of a mechanized army is oil."

@Cid Thanks for the vid!

I've lost track of all the refineries that have been hit. It's not just the production disruptions but the massive cost of fixing these things and needing the parts and specialty people to do so.

Greens insisting on closing down the nuclear plants in the face of one of the biggest European energy upheavals didn’t seem too realistic or solidary towards the western interests, but I’m sure you know the overall situation better. At least in Germany there seems to be hope if Scholz goes where as other big countries like France, Italy and Spain have done only a fraction in regards of concrete aid compared to Germany while giving enthusiastic support on paper. I have no idea though on who’s actually stopping confiscation of the Russian assets, but Scholz is my prime suspect heh.
The decision to step out of nuclear energy was primarily made after Fukushima.

It’s actually a surprise Green Party is completely towards big support of Ukraine which caused a big outrage in their traditional voter base.

But they are right and I’m happy they try to make responsibile politics now after all.

And while our support is huge compared by now it’s really not a narrative in the media or public. They could use that very well but somehow are focused on shitty Taurus.

Precisely! BP, Exxon, and other Petro companies were the ones using their own personnel to maintain and repair these refineries. Now with the war, the companies (along with the Russians fleeing the war) have left the country and probably won't be back until the war or Pres. Putin are gone.

An older vid, but it has some good info on the Russian Petrol mechanism.

Germany had two plants still running which got closed within a year after the invasion begun. There was discussion about keeping them running, but it didn't happen. Decision against it seemed at least partly ideological even with the security concerns. Russia has clearly been using environmentalists just like human rights movement like Amnesty in their hybrid warfare. Finland has been a victim to that too.

Germany has been generous with aid but on the other hand Scholz has been pretty consistently agains new offensive weapons systems delivered to Ukraine. Funny enough that in the past the most aggressive pro-Russia lobbyists in Finland have been from Social Democrat Party and very similar figures as Scholz. Go figure.

No, it's not funny. It's tyrannical.
When a country is defending itself against terrorists martial law is applied and elections can be put on hold. Zelenski is still popular and UKR will fight for their freedom. of course you didnt answer the question about Russia's honest elections.
Many video's are out of the woman sabotaging election stations in various ways....too bad the men couldn't fight back the way the woman do.

The people of Ukraine do not want to fight anymore. They are being forced to.

How convenient that there are no elections in Ukraine. We wouldn't want a leader that is friendly with Russia getting elected. There can be no agreements or peace talks. That would sabotage the west's plans for Ukraine.

As usual anyone pro Russian is usually full of shit. The UKR people do not want to live under Russian occupation as they have shown they are barbarians and low forms of life. There is no such thing as peace with Russia , they are a problem for the world and that's why the EU and others have stepped up and will see this war through.
UKR is willing to die for their freedom and I would do the same if I were them.

If the people of Russia wanted to fight, then why did so many abandon Russia to avoid fighting in Ukraine?

Fire reported at Russia's Syzran oil refinery

"The governor of Russia's Samara Oblast reported on March 16 that two Rosneft oil refineries in the area were targeted by Ukrainian drones, resulting in no casualties but leaving one facility on fire.

Ukraine has launched a concerted effort to degrade Russia’s oil production capabilities, targeting refineries across the country. Earlier this week, oil refineries were attacked in Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, and Leningrad oblasts.

The facilities hit by Ukrainian drones in the past days account for about 12% of Russia’s oil-processing capacity, Bloomberg reported.

The Volga river region's Syzran refinery was on fire, but that an attack on the Novokuibyshevsk refinery had been thwarted, regional governor Dmitry Azarov said via Telegram on March 16. There were no casualties, according to him. The Russian city of Samara is located around 850 kilometers southeast of Moscow.

Unverified footage shared by several Telegram channels depicted a significant fire at what appeared to be the Syzran refinery, with emergency services seen at the scene."

Wow. 12% of your oil production just taken offline within a few days?

Yeah, that ain't good for Russia.

I wonder the massive increase in drone attacks in Russia is how Ukraine has distanced themselves from the US? Attacks in Russia was ruled out as US supplied weapons came with the requirement that no overboarder attacks. Now that US stopped supplying weapons Ukraine is off those requirements thanks Moscow Mike Johnson lol. US is not a reliable party anymore an has to do it with just European an South Korean support only. That's a good message to Taiwan an other Countries that US is not a reliable partner.
