Putin had on paper annexed Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozia oblastjs and ofc Crimea and for Russians in Russia he is telling that Harkov oblastj and Odessa are Russian.
So in order to save face in Russia he needs sooner or later to annex them completely de facto. Otherwise Hitler No2 will have windows therapy done by nationalists with more balls.

I'm guessing that's why Putler has gone all in and doing this massive offensive right now. Only prob for him it will come at a massive cost of course...not that he cares but UKR knows this and hopefully set up tough defensive lines.

Russia had increased pressure in Avdiivka area and they are increasing usage of unmanned ground vecihles for ammo supplies and to evacuate casualties.


Avdiivka is strategically very important for Ukr mainly due to minefields installed in industrial scale.
If they will loss this, it will be most likely loss of Luhansk and Donetsk oblastj forever..
Soledar and Berdyansk they had lost and Avdiivka will be one from last nails in coffin.

I hope that Ukr that Ukr had managed to prepare some defense lines etc while obiviously with clear intent slowed down and reduced supply from west clearly shows that they never had any intent for Ukr to allow win. .. While slow war to calm down comrades in Kremlin is desirable solution.

Ukraine took the 1st round with pushing back the initial invasion and last years counter offensive

Russia took round 2 with Bakhmut and being able to hold significant amounts of the line during the second counter offensive.

Round 3 is just beginning with both sides taking time to dig in and replenish troops (both sides rest for the championship rounds)

Round 4 is next spring..

Given that Ukraine fighting with one arm tied behind there back that's pretty amazing. No air power, reliance on 30 year old defensive weapons an 50 year old tanks pretty good.

If they negotiate and Putin ends up keeping the current territories, he can still spin it as a win in Russia.

Most likely scenario - it's looking like it will end with these current borders.

Its called desperation. He likely will not survive losing this war so he's throwing everything he can at the wall hoping something sticks. His successes in 2022 have created the notion in his mind he can do it again just like Hitlers early successes convinced him he could pull a rabbit out of the hat more time even at the very end.

This is Ukraine telling us they suffered half a million casualties without directly saying it. I've been saying all along that Ukrainian casualty rates would be at least on par with Russia's due to disadvantages in armor, artillery, drones and support assets.
