Russia's war in Ukraine has drained it of labor — it lacks nearly 5 million workers this year, report says

"Russia's economy was 4.8 million workers short this year, according to Reuters.
Workforce vacancies rose 6.8% in 2023, climbing up from 5.8% a year ago.
The Ukraine war has pulled workers into the conflict, while others have fled.
Russia's economy was short nearly 5 million workers this year according to Reuters, which cited a news report from Russian newspaper Izvestia.

The finding is based on experts and research from the Russian Academy of Science's Institute of Economics, which found that the number of total workforce vacancies rose to 6.8% by the middle of 2023, jumping from 5.8% a year prior.

"If we extend the data presented by Rosstat (the official statistics agency) to the entire workforce, the shortage of workers in 2023 will tentatively amount to 4.8 million people," Izvestia quoted the study as saying."

This is how you kill an economy that was already built on foundations of sand.

It would be shocking if it were true. The YT channel looks like some turkish fake news account. Looks at some of the titles - 240k surrendering, 75k surrendering en masse, just nonsense.

Ya, some of those headlines are for clickbait but the same time it's brutal B.S. and shouldnt be allowed. I seen that recent 75.000 surrendering which is obvious BS, 75 alone would be a big deal let alone throwing 3 zero's on the end of it.

And likely to get worse as men get put in buses and marched to the front line.

so maryinka is still under ukraine control?

not really, and I also expect Russia to make small gains on a few fronts as they have the meat wagons in full throttle. Another meatwave attack in Avdiivka shows 1500 zombies run across an open field only to be intercepted by cluster munitions , PVD's and bradly's laying them to waste, one's who didnt run away tried to get in various holes and dugouts that wernt already plugged with dead bodies.
They have been doing this since mid Oct over and over with a few km of gains for their efforts.
