International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V12

Rumour of some russian breakthrough, nothing major though nor confirmed anywhere else so far.

Only posting this since this is where it was rumoured that russia has 100k troops and is planning to go on offence so might be worth to keep eyes on

Counter-counteroffensive like reddit calls it

Actually the Ukrainian counter offensive is really just offensive attack against Russian dug in defensive lines. A counter offensive is like out flanking a charging enemy on both sides.

Well, that is part of it. As long as they are moving forward (east) in some form, they are in the offensive. Ukraine can charge straight eastward also, but I think that would be suicide. I don't think Ukraine is currently in a position to do flanking movements on Russian dug-in positions. Ukraine needs to double its artillery attacks on Russian positions. It is not happening, and it won't be happening. I would give this conflict another 12 months before both sides decide to come to the table.

Until Russia collapses, because UKR has the resolve and leadership to send Russia back to Russia at whatever cost. Negotiating for peace is nothing more then a freeze in the war which is not an option for UKR. I believe the allies said they will see this through until UKR victory which is the only option.
Russia will never give up and retreat as Putin is incapable of that no matter the cost either.
Hopefully the west can keep the pace of newer and more advanced weapons to give them a bigger edge.
Question is when will Russia collapse? If it does happen in an about a year is the opinion of a few “ experts” I’ve watched online but who really knows.
The fact that Putin is trying to use the grain deal as blackmail to get sanctions lifted is very telling.

At the cost of how many Ukrainian soldiers? The Ukrainian Army keeps shrinking by the month. They are not getting replacements. What part of that do you people not understand? Resolve and leadership alone does not win you a war.

They have lots of soldiers left and Russia is losing them at a much faster rate. How long can they keep it up for? They are having a man power shortage in various areas due to people leaving the country or becoming a war casualty.
Tell me about your “peace” plan and how it should go?

the fact that Russia is attacking civilian infrastructure targets is a pretty big sign of desperation.

yep, been saying that for over a year now… but yet UKR is still in it.

Really what he's asking is how many Ukrainians does Russia have to murder to get what they want. But he's so CONCERNED about Ukraine...

Russia gets whatever it wants and Ukraine gets whatever russia allows.

Thats basically it, Not sure spin Marino understands the situation and reality of it. The US needs to fast forward the f16 situation as well as jump on board with long range missiles . The storm shadow has been a major success need more like that.

I'm hoping the f16 will open up the airspace for Ukraine. I doubt they will dominate it like US but I really hope they can see a significant change. My fear is that there won't be enough high quality pilots. Flying an f16, any fighter jet, is a highly skilled job. Tough to replace any losses.

In some areas russians does have relatively low losses because they are sitting in their fortifications behind minefields.

However looks that Putin ordered to grab more land ASAP. Therefore when they see opportunity, they are ordering troops to leave comforable trenches and
.....to move forward and grab next peace of land....
Then ofc to shell them is easier .

Makes sense why Putin is desperate to have sanctions lifted as its long term affect is hurting Russia. How long can Russia fund this war as UKR is getting funded from numerous countries.

I can easily see Ukraine following the "Area 88" anime methodology by hiring more pilots who are familiar with the F-16 to fly sorties over Ukraine.
