Last month, the U.S. Air Force Gen. James Hecker, head of U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE), as well as NATO’s Allied Air Command and U.S. Air Forces Africa (AFAFRICA), confirmed that Ukraine has already received air-launched precision-guided bombs that can hit targets 45 miles away.

James Hecker confirmed that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is already using long-range JDAM-ER version of guided bombs made by Boeing Co..

The JDAM is a Boeing guidance kit that converts unguided gravity bombs, or “dumb bombs,” into smart munitions.

The Finns now get to feel the wrath of Russia!!

"
Prime Minister Sanna Marin and the Helsinki region's traffic have all been exposed to hacker attacks during the day, Finnish media reports.

According to Yle, the Russian hacker group NoName 057(16) claimed responsibility. They write on their Telegram channel that the attacks are a response to Finland becoming a NATO member today.

- We are sending Finland to NATO escorted by an overload attack, writes the group."

OMG how will they survive?!?

it's sickening to think about here in Canada we have lots of energy but yet keep it in the ground put our tin foil hats on and pretend we saving the planet by keeping our emissions down. But then turn around buy it from Saudi Arabia have it shipped across the ocean and then trucked half way across the country because we wont allow a pipeline to go East from Alberta.
I believe Germany and Japan came here in hopes of an energy deal but yet got rejected then lectured by our pathetic sock boy leader about climate change. climate change terrorists are real.

Most Canadian oil is in the form of

Yeah, not something as simple as drilling a hole in the ground.

Meanwhile saudi oil is mostly light crude that flows freely.

Russia is about to lose any claim to being a superpower

Dude they lost that decades ago.

The Russians are the only ones refusing to acknowledge the fact.

What this war is costing them is its claim to being a Great Power. Right now they’re sliding down to jumped up regional power, and that just because of its nukes.

Tar sands is shit quality petroleum products, extremely difficult and dirty to extract. Not really worth it now, but we will eventually need it down the road as other methods run out

It's a strategic issue. If we burn through our natural reserves before securing a better source or weening off oil all together OPEC will have free reign to bend us over on oil prices since we won't have any and won't even be able to use our military to get more. US has 50-100 years to figure this out or it'll get critical. $100 per barrel price will be a fond memory.

Member of Putin’s Guard Flees Russia, Discloses Details in the Life of ‘War Criminal’

"Gleb Karakulov had served as an engineer in the Federal Guard Service (FSO) presidential communications unit and accompanied Putin on more than 180 trips over the past 13 years. The unit ensures that Putin and his prime minister are provided with 24/7 encrypted communications.

Karakulov told the Dossier Center he managed to flee with his family to Turkey while accompanying Putin on a visit to Kazakhstan for a summit in mid-October 2022.

Over the course of an hour-long interview, he shared details about Putin’s habits, family and health.

Karakulov said Putin still does not use smartphones or the internet and demands that Russian state-run television be available on his foreign trips.

He added that Putin remains paranoid about getting infected with Covid-19 three years into the pandemic and forces every employee to quarantine for two weeks before they can be in the same room with him.

He’s been living in an information cocoon for the past couple of years,” Karakulov told the Dossier Center. “He’s pathologically afraid for his life.”

He has shut himself off from the world with all kinds of barriers: the quarantine, the information vacuum. His take on reality has become distorted.”

Still, Karakulov denied speculation that the 70-year-old leader was suffering from an undisclosed illness: “He’s in better health than many other people his age.”

Word from an inside man so to speak.

They will rely on their artillery to kill tanks since its actually only part that works well and ukr has bad time countering it.
Indeed.
I still don't know how these western tanks to Ukraine will be deployed. Frankly, I'm not putting much faith in them. People seem to think of the tank as a 'wonder' weapon. It is not. Attack helicopters and bombers would have been a much better choice. Again, Ukraine is getting just enough help not to lose this conflict, but not enough help to win it.

You would need to subsidize the US oil industry like you subsidize agricultural products.

Those investments are incredibly risky, because of the cost of producing oil from those methods.

After 2014 and 2020 where tons of oil ventures went belly up has made people reticent to go for that kind of investments.

I am grateful that we have the United States holding the baton on the world stage.
I want to thank @Rational Poster for me finding this site.

What does The Battle of Mogadishu have to do with Ukraine?
I'm not so sure the US is holding the baton on the world stage.

The US should just expand its strategic oil reserves capacity and just play the markets, the strategic oil reserve was used perfectly in 2022 when both Saudis and American oil companies decided to pressure Biden's administration.

Just buy enough that you can last 1-2 years and any leverage OPEC gets is lost.

Training helicopter or bomber pilots is a whole magnitude of difficulty greater than anything land based. At least 6 months to convert the few attack helicopter pilots they already have to a new system, and at least a year or longer to train up pilots who are already trained on non combat choppers.

There are no wonder weapons on the modern battlefield. Tanks are just another tool. They can be extremely effective if deployed correctly, or total junk if they're just driven into ambushes like the Russians have been doing.
