News in Rus: Tula governor Dyumin turned to Putin on behalf of designers, engineers and technologists with a request to return drafting to schools.

This is how Girkin responds to it lmao:

The fact that Dyumin, to put it mildly, is "not very smart" is widely known in narrow circles. There is an opinion that even against the background of the rest of Putin's guards, he stood out and stands out for his "mind and ingenuity" so much that he gained considerable fame for himself in this field. Therefore, I fully support this initiative of his: it has a deep strategic meaning - since the Russian Federation itself does not produce computers (as well as processors and other electronic filling for this equipment) - in connection with the sanctions, we will soon have to abandon them. And you will have to draw again by hand - as they have been drawing from time immemorial. But Mr. Dyumin forgot that documents are now almost everywhere also printed on printers connected to computers. And since there will be no computers or printers, and the production of typewriters in the Russian Federation is also "a long time ago" - it went to scrap metal - it is urgent to introduce calligraphy lessons in schools in addition to drawing .... while teachers can still (theoretically) be found - they must have time (they are 80 years old + the youngest) to pass on to the youth their advanced innovative import-substituting experience.

Yeah they're of course going to try to turn the narrative around. They want as many bodies as they can in Ukraine and a good way to do that is to fire up the populace and make it seem like they are under terrorist attack. Even if it doesn't get people over there it gets the general public more sympathetic to the cause because "ukraine is bad, has terrorist nazis."
Maybe I didn’t get your point but you think 20-something years old depressed ex-nurse-feminist-from-Twitter was able to make this bomb by herself? I think her contacts, like Popkov is more like a right-wing or ex-right-wing journalist and not a bomb expert (honestly I think right-wingers/neo-Nazi used bombs like once or twice in Russia in last 30 years and it was actually people who knew what they were doing, not journalists).
Or you mean it was police/government/someone like that that gave that bomb to her?

I was talking about this earlier in the thread about Russia's extreme obsession with indirect fire as a way to wage war. Even their more ordinary weapon systems are configured to support indirect fire.

I was pretty surprised when the war started of all the footage of their sophisticated attack choppers just firing rockets off into the ether, like flying artillery. I wonder how effective and accurate that is, although I guess they can quickly get into decent firing positions

WTF? Why cyber attack the outgoing Prime Minister?? lol

The Russian carrier pigeon network’s messenger still hasn’t reached the Kremlin yet.

The sanctions sure have impacted their modern telegram system they had.

It's gonna come down to the wire whether or not Russia can fully force Ukraine out before the counteroffensive begins. Wild that the entirety of the Russian winter "offensive" basically boiled down to desperately trying to grind into this one place.

It just doesn't make sense for Russia to keep throwing bodies into Bakhmut. Putin is just throwing away Russia's manpower on hubris.

It can be effective enough with the proper surveillance and target correction, but attack helos don't have very many rockets to do that. You have to be a pretty skilled pilot to pull it off and have an effect.

It's likely mostly a waste.

That's one of the major pitfalls to having a country ran by a dictator; they make demands, people have to fulfill them, period. Putin wants it taken and so it must be done. He wants Ukraine taken and so it must be done. That dude is so unimaginably wealthy and powerful, so completely and totally insulted from consequences, from anything that goes against his personal wishes, that there's simply no other way to operate under him.

F-16's would not change the war overnight because it would take around a year for them to actually be used in the war. The logistics and training would take that long to set up (or even longer.) The spring counter offensive will have happened way before that.

On top of that, Russia still has tons of SAMS in their territory. They make so many tactical mistakes but Russia, long ago, already decided the US has air superiority with their jets and responded with a hornets nest in anti-air missiles.

And they could bomb Moscow right now if they were simply given longer range HIMARS missiles.

Not just this, but F16 are extremely delicate aircraft, not really good to be flying in active warzone conditions that require low altitude operations.. Without properly constructed and maintained airfields the engines will degrade very fast from sucking up debris.

Putin has persistently reminded me of the antagonist from 13 Warriors. A guy so wealthy and esteemed that he's capable of unthinkable cruelty without so much as a second thought.

But his aggression marks him as a dead man, pitting him in an unwinnable war, and his embarrassing end comes at the hands of inferior numbers.

I genuinely think Putin, when he became a dictator, lost all sight of who he was, what Russia had become, and what the future held.

A clueless, floundering idiot of a man, who under other circumstances wouldn't seem like an idiot at all.

I think he'll be a parable for future generations around the world, much as Hitler has become.

Collected information about Armed Forces and tried to escape to Belarus: Russian spy caught on border

"The detainee was collecting information about military and fortification facilities and trying to impersonate another person.

A suspicious man without documents was found on the outskirts of one of the settlements of Zhytomyr Oblast, not far from the state border.

Later, it became clear that the citizen is involved in criminal proceedings against the foundations of Ukraine's national security.

The violator identified himself as a different person to the border guards of the 9th detachment named after the Sich Riflemen.

They found a tablet and a notebook in his possession, which contained information about the names, locations, and affiliations of military units of the Defence Forces, along with 4,000 euros.

The detainee from Zhytomyr turned out to be involved in criminal proceedings against the foundations of the national security of Ukraine.

He tried to enter Belarus illegally. While fleeing the country, the traitor collected information for Russians along the way.

Procedural documents were drawn up regarding the perpetrator for attempting to cross the state border illegally and violating the border regime.

The violator was detained and handed over to the competent authorities."

Tatarsky was killed by Putin when he invaded Ukraine – Intelligence

"The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine believes that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, himself is guilty of murdering propagandist Vladlen Tatarsky.

・On 2 April, an explosion occurred in a cafe in the centre of St Petersburg that had previously belonged to Yevgeny Prigozhin, owner of the Wagner Group Private Military Company, killing "war correspondent" (military blogger) Vladlen Tatarsky and injuring 30 other people."

Message to Prigozhin?

"Pres. Putin can touch YOU."

Training helicopter or bomber pilots is a whole magnitude of difficulty greater than anything land based. At least 6 months to convert the few attack helicopter pilots they already have to a new system, and at least a year or longer to train up pilots who are already trained on non combat choppers.

There are no wonder weapons on the modern battlefield. Tanks are just another tool. They can be extremely effective if deployed correctly, or total junk if they're just driven into ambushes like the Russians have been doing.
That and Ukraine doesn’t have air superiority

And then obviously, the task couldn’t wait 20 minutes for the rain to stop
