Russell Crowe in Gladiator is what a man should look like

I'll put it this way, if you needed help moving some heavy shit, you'd call Arnold before you called Russell Crowe.
Yes the strength is very functional when it comes to lifting stuff as i pointed out.

it loses functionality in other areas however once you get too extreme.

Not too ripped with gym muscles, just raw functional strength

Soon this will be the only example of a real man.

That's an A-Level athlete and A-Level brain, the total package.

Check this out, baby. Could've gone NBA if he wanted but he knew he'd make more money with computers.

I'd rather looked big and ripped and have beach muscles vs being "functionally strong". This is 2017, I don't need to actually be moving heavy shit around on a daily basis. I'd rather look good than be strong.

Depends what you mean by function. The heavier weight classes in the UFC would suffer when it comes to gymnastics but when it came to raw strength (and things that are affected by strength like fighting ability) heavier/more equals better.

It's about time Sherdog had another monthly "I'm not gay so I can say these guys are hot" thread.

I've never known any kind of strength that couldn't be used for something. LOL @ "functional strength."
Well, i have seen massive body builders who were far weaker then they look. That to me is a lack of functional strength when you are all show and no go. I define functional strength as being able to pick up heavy objects repeatedly, to have sufficient strength to be useful for more then a few minutes of strenuous daily activity such as bailing hay or moving heavy furniture.

But Arnold also believed in functional strength and did weird shit innhis routine to make sure he was big everywhere and didn’t develope the bench only strength issues.

If all you do is lift your body gets predisposed to only moving in certain ranges with strength.

Perfect example, dude starts at my work, is all gym ripped.

Has problems picking up and moving heavy parts around the shop all the old timers with beer gut Dad bods throw around on the daily.

After about 3 months he stopped struggling.

I'm not arguing that dudes who are built like Ronnie Coleman don't look, and often act, like ridiculous and awkward human beings.

However, while they may not be as strong as powerlifters, bodybuilders are usually pretty fucking strong and that strength can be channeled in specific ways for impressive results.

I think this is what a real man should look like. Functional and raw, but with all the right proportions.
